We all know how pretty much any AM/MW stations outside of North America operate on 9 kHz steps, meaning most in-car tuners can not hope to pick them up. One could order a head unit from Europe, but that could be pricey, by the time its shipped here (believe me, I've thought about it
).
Today, I happened to stumble across a company US based company called REI (Radio Engineering Industries). They offer audio (& visual) equipment for buses, tractors, etc. One thing that caught my eye, is that their tuners offer US/Euro radio frequency modes...check out the catalogue and scroll down to page 15 ~> http://www.radioeng.com/post/sections/67/Files/REI_AV_Catalog_Final_ActiveTOC.pdf
The prices for their products appear to be very reasonable. For example, here's one of their radios (in a 'fender mount' housing for tractors) priced for a $169 ~> http://www.amazon.com/REI-Fender-Mo..._pw_dp?ie=UTF8&m=AF8EGQ3KRZQB6#productDetails
Cheap Chinese junk, or do these radios perform well? Has anyone heard of these folks and the quality/capability of their products?
