it appears that any commercial band noncom can restore its commercial status. However I can not recall any case of this happening to use as precedent.* KPFA has become a non-entity. Could a buyer convert 94.1 back to a commercial license, or is it now sentenced to non-comm in perpetuity?
David: I can think of two---both in Phoenix. Family Life Radio bought 1230 AM in '78---it wound up returning to commercial broadcasting in the 80s. And KMLE at 107.9 was Christian until being taken commercial Country in the late 80s.it appears that any commercial band noncom can restore its commercial status. However I can not recall any case of this happening to use as precedent.

It's more than likely the 5-week (not 4) Holiday period, which tends to affect many formats quite negatively.Did something happen to Wild 94.9 that I'm unaware of? That's quite the dropoff.

Remember that San Jose IS San Francisco. It is just a break-out "embedded market" inside the SFO MSA.* Will be observing if Alpha Media's BK affects KBAY & KEZR - their only two powerhouses that rank well in both SFO & SJ
