Any thoughts or observations?

Main thought is this KSOL vs KVVF ratings tango at such low numbers even if their formats may not entirely overlap is gonna force a change on one of their parts. I still want to see a Spanish news on FM. Perhaps there is a reason it is not done.

KITS up to 1.7 is still not good, holiday ratings having these bumps for bottom rated FMS isn’t rare, but the months after will really be telling for their future.

there is not much to go off here due to the volatility of holiday ratings in isolation, and there’s no patterns I see to get excited for a change in radio here yet outside of KVVF’s poor and slipping ratings.

Something to David Eduardo, is it possible for the Bay Area can support and try another attempt of doing a Cumbia format similar to KDLD Viva in LA? It was once tried on KLOK under Entravision. The Salvadoran population has grown exponentially in last several decades. It may need to be researched again.

One of the issues in several Hispanic markets is the Nielsen sample. The Spanish dominant portion is not proportional by age in the discreet demos, and much of the sample is on the old side.

Yes, there is a reason. All news has not worked in nearly all of Latin America for the last 30 years or so. The exception is Perú, where there is a national news and talk network that is highly rated, but it has a 70 year tradition.

All news was tried in Mexico City, where there are a dozen or so all talk stations on both AM and FM, but it did not work.

The 3 all news stations (with national networks) in Puerto Rico went all talk in the 90's.

Likely they are hoping that Nielsen fixes the sample as the pandemic's effect on recruiting lessens.

Your knowledge and experience is very valued, glad you’re around the San Francisco side! Thank you for the write up. Hopefully Nielsen will fix the demographic issue.

I notice KGMZ is tied for #6 in the 18-34 demo. That likely means KGMZ is ranked around 3rd or 4th among 18-34 men. Quite good for a station that only ranks #16 overall. KNBR-AM-FM is not listed in any of the demo rankings.
