Homeless man with an awesome radio voice - Someone get him a gig!

So, he was a boozer and a coke head. Time was that was a big chunk of the work force in top 40 radio.

He puts on some old clothes, prints up a sign, stands on a street corner. Maybe even has a newspaper buddy with a camera come take a video. It's very imaginative. He should be doing promotion. Yes, pipes are a dime a dozen. Great promotion people are worth their weight in gold - and get paid accordingly. He's wasted on the PA at basketball games.

CNN says Williams is not a phoney, but does have a lengthy rap sheet:

But as a St. Petersburg Times journalist wrote, "Williams [needs] a good agent in his corner. Because overcoming homelessness and addiction may pale in comparison to the challenge of facing down a ravenous news media when a popular story is in the air."

Doesn't he look like an older version of President Obama?

Ted Williams has a God given talent that can't be taken from him.

But to succeed in broadcasting takes more than a great set of pipes, although it helps. You also have to have great diction and a distinctive personality.

Thanks,

Did it ever occur to anyone that this is a stunt. And sooner or later someone will reveal this guy's true identity and the fact that he has been doing radio or voice work.

This would be stunt of the day, if not for the station in Phoenix making an "offer" to Bristol Palin, whose radio talent is exceeded only by her dancing talent.

Hum ,I dont think so,It's real to me.Ted has a great voice.I would love hear him do a top 40 countdown show.

A couple of them in Columbus, including WVKO - which was most recently a progressive talk station. I think they went dark, believe it or not...

It's now Catholic. Oddly, a British article about Ted that I ran across gave that micro-detail, although as a Columbus resident I already knew it.

Fyi, a couple days ago an article about Ted in the Columbus Dispatch said his family worries some about him getting back into radio, as (paraphrasing) this is the kind of crowd that helped steer him down the wrong path.

He got lots of offers. That is something you shall have to live with, whether CNN reported it or not.

Thats probably why people are "taking to him".He does have a good voice,we can all sit back and try and see if this pans out.Hopefully for him it does.

would not believe CNN if they told me today was Friday. (and it is)
