*LMAO*

That's what came to my mind when the telethon was announced (especially after the comment made by Obama about West).

;D ;D

The list of networks carrying tonight's telethon has been updated; now over two dozen channels, including MLB Network!

(Source: a Cablevision email...)

"The telethon can be viewed on the following channels: ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, CNN, BET, The CW, HBO, MTV, VH1, CMT, PBS, TNT, Showtime, Comedy Central, Bravo, E! Entertainment, National Geographic Channel, Oxygen, G4, Centric, Fuse, MLB Network, Palladia, SoapNet, Style and Planet Green."

I really cannot believe this is on so many channels. Though I'm guessing there's a reason for it. Though the question is...what's the flagship channel for it, or the channel that decided to produce it?

North of the border, it's being shown on CTV, CBC, Global, TVA, Tele-Quebec, MusiquePlus, Musimax, TV5 Quebec Canada, MTV, MuchMusic and National Geographic Channel. CBC, CTV and Global are also joining forces for an hour long special prior to Hope for Haiti.

My understanding is that George Clooney is producing the telethon.

I don't like Telethons,I think I'll be watching a movie. I'm lucky to have a job now,I don't have any extra money to give for Haiti!

...and you can imagine where most of this money won't be going to..

Remember how "Live Aid" was supposed to end hunger in Africa by not only feeding the starving but putting methods into place so they could fend for themselves? How'd that work out?

Ok..so theyll get x million dollars for food, water, a few tents, several hundred Lane Kiffin T-shirts...and then those poor folks will be as...well...poor as ever...except for the 100,000 or so which will end up here in Florida.

The Governments there, puppet or otherwise, have been as corrupt as ever. They live in mansions, albeit not quite built to most safe codes, while the rest of the countrys citizens...comprised on honest, hard-working...when there is work...natives who lived in buildings that the Three Little Pigs wouldn't have gone near on their worst day.

It's time for a truly long range plan for this country involving not just the U.S. ...but the other neighboring nations on our side of the block as well...um..those whose citizens arent fleeing their corrupt Governments to take advantage of all the programs Uncle Sam has here....

and...wait..this gig isn't going to pre empt Friday Night Smackdown is it?

Sending money to Haiti is like flushing Your money down the toilet. With the endemic corruption in Haiti, how much of the millions or Billions raised will actually get to the people? My guess is that the majority of it will wind up in the pockets of the rulers of Haiti. That's why i'm reticent to send any money to Haiti.

Actually, the French networks will have their own telethon, "Ensemble pour Haiti", which will be seen at 8PM ET, alongside the American special.

As far as I know, MyNetworkTV's not scheduled to carry the telethon.

But still, we have to do something. While there is a chance that the money will end up in the government's coffers, if no one does anything, Haiti may end up spiraling into the nadir -- they got hit by hurricanes two years ago, and the earthquake has made a bad situation even worse.

I'm surprised that Haiti didn't do anything drastic, like give the country back to France.

I don't know if France would want them right now. I'm suprised that Haiti never merged with the Dominican Republic, who looks like Los Angeles compared to Haiti.

MTV is the flagship channel for the multi-network telethon; it'll be the fourth after "America: A Tribute to Heroes", "Tsunami Aid" (seen on the NBC Universal networks only), and "Shelter from the Storm". And all of them were organized by George Clooney.

As far as channels not airing it: USA, WGN America, TBS, TruTV, ION, and Univision; dunno about the independent stations.

In Australia, it'll be on Network Ten, but not on ABC, Seven or Nine.

And BBC, ITV, Channel Four and Five won't air it in Britain, but MTV UK and Viva will.

But "Cartoon All-Stars to the Rescue" from 20 years ago was the first thing I remember being broadcast on countless channels.

Ah, yes, this thing:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jivU-4xv7aw

Then again, there were far less channels back then, so I would imagine the saturation percentage for coverage of the Haiti telethon won't even hold a candle to Bugs Bunny, Papa Smurf et al.

It's on roughly half of the ~70 HD channels I get here. MSNBC must have been a late add, since it doesn't show in their program listings. Our local PBS outlet, WXXI, is showing it as well.

Only one channel - Fuse - seems to be showing it with no bug at all. Most of the rest have the bug lower right, while CBS and CW have it upper right.

I think most PBS stations are showing it as well -- according to Zap2It, WTVS Detroit, WCMU Mount Pleasant and WEDU Tampa are showing it.

Sadly, and I know this is extremely un-PC and Yankee Dog imperialist, but maybe we just annex it than rebuild it so its decent. Otherwise, 20 years from now it will be the poor, dilapidated cesspool it was before the earthquake even happened. After Papa Doc, Baby Doc, Aristide et al got done raping the place, there wasn't anything left for the people. Then I head France was upset we are there, well we could say, OK France, its all yours.

2 more late additions - The Weather Channel and CPTV The PBS Station in Connecticut. Both have regular programming on the guides. (WGBY/57 in Springfield has it on and it's listed - along with their new logo).

I also can't believe it's on almost every network owned by NBC-Universal, but it's not on Telemundo or MUN2. And it's not on the Univision owned Networks either. Not on Univision, Telfutura, or Galavison. Of all these Latino stations you know who's showing it? MTV Tr3cs. Shoot. I think Univison and Telemundo are available in more homes.

Here in the Mountain Time Zone--Phoenix to be exact--
is it live or Memorex?

Live 6-8 on CNN, MSNBC and the WX Channel.

Delayed in pattern 7-9 on the OTA networks.

And, thanks to Cox Cable's love affair with left coast feeds
during standard time (Pacific Time plus one hour sucks!)--
9-11 on various cable channels.
