hot 102.7 fm's ratings are affected by the station's poor coverage, I believe.

Hot 102.7 WHTD FM Mount Clemens/ Detroit has a transmitter and an antenna located at 14 mile rd and Gratiot Ave in Clinton Township, Michigan. 102.7 aims most of their 50,000 watts from their antenna to the north and east to avoid interfering with WWWW 102.9 FM W4 Country in Ann Arbor, Michigan to the southwest.

Because of 102.7's directional aim, 102.7 has poor coverage and poor reception in most of the metropolitan Detroit area.

Because of this I believe, FM 98 WJLB with their very powerful signal beats Hot 102.7 in ratings.

Hot 102.7 would have way better ratings if all of metro Detroiter's could pick up Hot 102.7 FM on their radio's at all or with a powerful signal, or very powerful signal.
