HOT 106- Has to be the worse station in PROV

So... Does anyone listen to this station? I would need to say. This is a station that if you can talk "getto", act " getto"..and have ZERO on air experience and still have a gig. But the word out there, is that you must kiss ass first.

Follow me:

Keri Collins- Experienced- No a morning host though. Put him back to PRO FM nights!

Deanna Cruz- Half the time, you cant understand her. ( Learn English) - Limited Experience. ( Or is she there because of her relationship with Dan Hunt

Joey Fox- Reasonable. ( His experience is being an MC)

I am not going to even talk about the night guy!-- The only guy I know who opens a break by saying " YEPPPP"

THIS GOES BACK TO a recent post not that long ago.

(Below are responses that they give people trying to land a gig at the station)

" Not good enough for providence yet"
" Nope, not ready for providence"
"Doesnt belong here"

But these same people get a bigger and better job in BOSTON.....

If they want to cut stations- CUT THIS JUNKY STATION

I'll say this. Lots of Program Directors seem to have bad judgement when it comes to talent. They think the creative types suck and the boring types are great! For them it's all about playing it safe. Don't think outside the box and don't do anything out of the ordinary. Just go into the studio and do a nice little show. You wouldn't want to cause any controversy around here. Then we'll hire you. That is the thought process of most Program Directors based on what I've seen. Especially in smaller markets like Providence. It's a crap shoot. Sometimes you really have to hunt to find a PD who appreciates what you bring to the table. Providence may hate you, but Boston may like you (or) vice versa. Howie Carr doesn't get any love from Providence and Depetro can't find love in Boston. There are no guarantees in this business. Most of it doesn't even make sense.

I haven't had the pleasure(?) of listening to HOT 106, but I'd like to add to skynet 74's comments...if that's okay?

There might be a mindset with a few of the Providence Radio Station PD's? That being...if a talent is any good...he (or she) will head north to Boston or west to California? So if an air personality isn't permitted to be an air personality...he (or she) will remain in the Providence market a little longer?

It's also possible that HOT 106 has a limited budget when it comes to paying their (err) air personalities? So what you hear on the air might be in direct proportion to their salary! ::)

Clearly these PD's are not playing by the "American Idol" rules...

Hot 106. Simply not the same station since Stern has been gone.

Stern leaving killed the profits for a lot of stations. You can't go from "The King of All Media" to local Joe Blow and expect the same result.
