Hot 97's Neophyte Morning Show Is Beating Elvis Duran On Z-100

In an article on Hot 97's new morning show, hosted by "a black, a Puerto Rican and a Jew" (Hot 97's words, not mine), the Daily News notes that "Cipha Sounds and Rosenberg" (joined by K. Foxx) has "crept ahead of perennial leader [Z-100 and the "Elvis Duran Morning Show"] in their target audience of 18- to 34-year-olds."

I believe this is the first time Hot 97 has had at least one Caucasian in morning drive since Howard Hoffman and Stephanie Miller co-hosted in the early 90's.

In my opinion, I really don't like Elvis Duran, and although I think Hot 97's morning show is pretty corny, I feel like they at least try versus E.D. I am glad they have crept past Elvis Duran, who just sounds dry and boring to me.

That is far from the truth. They are on 5 or 6 mid to large CHR's of CC's.

Yes, your right. I'm not in that demo. So I guess that would be the reason why I don't like Elvis Duran.

Elvis Duran is a horrible show. And Phone Tap is immature crap. KC 101.3 in New Haven replaced the local Michael Maze Show with Duran and I haven't listed to KC 101.3 in Morning Drive since the switch.

I do have to agree with most here. I am a girl, and do fit the demo. But I don't like Elvis Duran either. I am from New York, so whenever I go back to visit family, I'd always listen to Z100, and Elvis and the Zoo. These past few years, it's not funny, and the tape delay gets annoying- because of their syndication. I use to love Elvis and the crew, but ever since like 2007 or so, they've just been boaring, and the phone tap isn't even funny any more. Back in the 90's Z100 was awesome! Everything in my oppinion went down hill when Lisa Taylor left in 2001. Shelly Wade (can't stand her!) took over, and ugh... I live in California, and I get Shelly on Star 94.1, because she too is voice tracking. But anyways, I'm not surprised that Elvis Duran's show isn't doing well compared to Hot 97's. (although I don't live in NYC any more and I have never heard of this other show) I'm still not suprised.

Kind of funny; Everyone here seems to think Elvis' show is tired/boring yet January was the first month that anyone beat him in P18-34 in at least the last year. Furthermore, Elvis is back in the #1 spot in Feb. As well as W18-34, W25-54, P25-54 and the list goes on.

Hi! No problem! Yes, we New Yorkers definitely get it lol! I 100% agree with you. Yeah, I noticed that 92.3 was in compition with Z100 the last time I was out there. My cousin who lives in NY who use to be a Z100 listener (not as much as me though lol!!) now listens to 92.3. (way more then Z100) in it's time the Z was the place to be. It was awesome, had awesome personalities, the music was awesome, and now it's just boaring. Elvis and the crew... well see my post above.
