In case anybody's interested, The Weather Channel is doing a half-hour on the balloon that crashed into the radio tower in Albuquerque. It's the first half-hour of their nightly hour-long "Storm Stories" thing, running right now (8pm ET). It reruns at 11pm.<P ID="signature">______________

Back in December, 1990 on a crisp December morning a hot air balloon snagged the top of the Twin Rivers Super tower in Columbus, Ohio (1,029 ft), and the 4 passengers fell to their deaths. The 2 TV stations and 4 radio stations were knocked off the air and had to broadcast from back-up facilities to repair the tower, and get the rest of the balloon off the tower. No one knows why they decided to go up that morning (it was quite cold that day), and witnesses say that they blew the blowers and it just wasn't doing anything. So it's definitely not the first time that a hot air balloon has snagged a TV/radio tower.
