Houston commercials you'd like to see blown to smithereens

Buddy Hayes said:
Any and all furniture ads, including and especially Mattress Mac..

I don't mind Mattress Mac. It's Hilton and his kids from Hilton Furniture.... OOOOH! They've gotta go.

Also, the latest round of C&D Scrap Metal, with their bloopers. Who cares?!

Is Superior Waterbeds still in business? They used to run ads in just about every break on every station. Now, I haven't seen them in many years. I know the waterbed craze has come and gone, but I was curious if they were still around? ???

Hey, back off of mattress mac....he's kewl :)

Discount Tire is pretty bad with the old lady throwing the tire through the window.

Mattress Mac isn't that bad. Is the Hilton guy the one where his kids are laying on the furniture? Are they hispanic? If so, I've seen those when in Houston and they are pretty bad.

There is a guy that has a furniture store in Irving, TX and I think he also has one out in Lubbock and he moves his arm around in a clockwise fashion almost the entire time the camera is on him. Now HE truly is obnoxious !!

Yes, that is Hilton. He just bought the Houston Comets, so I have a feeling we'll be seeing a lot more of him.

Also, I realize they're national spots, but it is time for the GEICO Cavemen and the Gekko to disappear. Talk about annoying. The cavemen make absolutely no sense whatsoever.

Snoman, I was just thinking of the Geico commercials as well.

The Gecko is funny, but the Caveman and then the new ones with all the "famous" announcer voices
are the worst. And just think, some ad exec developed those and made a ton of $$$ for himself and
his ad agency.

No, that's Exclusive Furniture. Hilton is the guy who used to have a chainsaw.

That Discount Tire ad has been around at least 30 years.

Actually, it's both. Hilton has "Baby Hilton" and "Baby Paris" with little chainsaws and playing on the furniture. And, while Hilton Koch is white, he has a Hispanic Wife, and his kids are Hispanic. Exclusive's owner (not sure of his name), has his Little Brother and His Son in the spots, and yes they are Hispanic, too.

Don't know if these are still on, as I left Houston over a year ago.

How about the commercials for the Champion auto dealerships with the random people singing "Call Champion!" to the tune of the Ghostbusters theme song? Man those commercials used to irritate me!

No, they're gone, Thank God. And yes, they were bad.

Oh GOD how I hated those. And thanks, Mr. Head, for putting that jingle back into MY head!

Must. find. bleach.

Anyway, I hated the "ooh, ahh, Mattress Giant" commercials when I was there. The lady at the end sounded like she was, well...I'll leave that to your imagination.

Landmark...er, I'm sorry...LANDMARK CHEVROLET...ads had me reaching for the remote to try to cut down on the screaming.

Law...rence Marshall...in...Hempstead is just annoying, please go away.

Thank God he bought the Comets. Maybe that will eat all his cash and his ad budgets will drop. Any WNBA investment is a complete loser. Why do you think Les Alexander (Rockets owner) sold them. That very ill-advised purchase should eat all of Hilton's cash in no time. No cash, no spots. The only problem is we'll then be exposed to more Exclusive Furniture ads featuring more brothers and children than furniture. Just wondering, is he selling furniture or kids? No matter what is said, he gets the name out there and it brings in the buyers. Remember there are enough gullible folks out there that will just come to those stores to see the guy. While there, they are likely to buy something. Where these clowns are missing the boat is in the Spanish market. The majority of their business comes from the Hispanic population and yet the vast majority of their ad budgets are dedicated to English speaking TV stations. If they devoted more of their budgets to Spanish TV and especially RADIO they would double or triple their sales. There's some free advise worth taking if you're buying their media. And no, I do not work for a Spanish or any media outlet. I once consulted a furniture company and developed that strategy for them and their sales quadrupled within 2 months. That was about 6 years ago and today their sales are over $20M per year.

Bi-Rite Furniture ...where the bean bags are!

Oh God, some one please shove a pair of sharpened No. 2 pencils into my ears and eyes so I don't have to listen or see the two idiots say "Hey, hey, hey, bean bag men" in butchered english.

Sounds like "heheheh binbag min".

Oh and Thunderbolt Transmission spots with the broad in the Cadillac. That commercial is 20 years old and they still run it.

You're a little off on that Thunderbolt commercial. It's actually over 25 years old. It is circa 1979 and I might be off a year or two on either side. It was produced at Channel 26 back when they might have had the call letters KDOG.

Is that the one with the "We put the Yeeee-Hawwwww Back in your motor and Transmission"??? Man was that annoying!

Oh yeah, and those two moroons with the "hey hey hey bing bang men"
No offense to anyone, but it looks like they just got here from mexico and found the perfect "yob"! ;D

Now, for some reason, I just hate that Auto Insurance Discounter commercial with that lady!

I actually found the Geico commercials with the gecko and the caveman really funny!

For the creepiest commercial, no doubt it is the old Six Flags commercials with the old creepy guy dancing!

Didn't they update that commerical recently (same music though)?

It was tweaked to look a little more like the 21st century, but it still looks like the same spot that was running for many years. The Caddy in the spot is red instead of blue, and the girl in the spot is either different, or she had a good surgeon. The graphics and video are a little more modern, too.

The Exclusive Furniture commercials with that guy and his family. He's yelling and his english is so bad you can barely understand him and his kids are just as bad.
"Dhree lo-kations!!"
oh god!

Mattress Mac needs to hire a voice over when he gets sick and has no voice. That has ALWAYS annoyed me. As much money as he makes now he can quit being cheap.

I think they used to run those commercials in Houston. Is that the guy who looks a lot like Rodney Dangerfield?
