That's after Party 93.3 flipped this morning to regional mexican as Que Buena 93.3. This is the first time I've ever known Houston to have only one hip hop station. So 97.9 The Box have it all to itself.

good god i hope its temporary for a short time until we get a 2nd one. i love the box, but after the 1st hour i listen, i hear the same songs all over again. having just one hip hop station in a city where a lot of hip hop talent is beginning to come out?? that's not like houston

Someone will probably fill the gap. I think the Box sounds fine but back in the 90s it had its own sound now it is pretty generic. I think the 2 Dallas Hip Hop stations have sounded quite a bit better for awhile.

K104 here in Dallas/Ft. Worth has improved 100% It gives so much love to the local artists daily, and even more with their new mixshow, "Street Swag Sundays", where they play local artists and even have a local artist as an in-studio guest.

Now, which station do you think will step up to the plate and give The Box some competition? When Clear Channel sold The Box, that station went to hell in a hand basket.

Thats Radio One for Ya !!! Radio One is only good in Baltimore/Washington D.C. and Atlanta.

it is strange, but what station would flip? Houston seems pretty stable right now in all formats?

either Cox or Cumulus because they do have low rated stations here. the point (cox) has a 2.1 and jack-fm and espn(cumulus) have a 0.9 and 0.5. If cumulus does it, i hope they dont just do it for a year and a half and then flip it for no reason. if Cox does it then i hope they do it good without playing their over-edited hip hop music (ex: they edit the "pop" out of lollipop by lil wayne). that's a little bit over the edge, dont you think.
