The economy isn't the reason for Bill Heard's closures. It's easy for Heard to blame the shaky economy but those dealerships would have gone under in a booming economy.
GM can take some of the blame for not making more fuel efficient cars. It's killing GM dealerships all over the country. Not all are closing, but a lot of them are in serious pain.
Even with all that, the Heard dealerships went under because of bad management. They were managed horribly. So horribly their primary financing outfit GMAC even cut them off.
