The economy didn't kill Bill Heard Chevy

The economy isn't the reason for Bill Heard's closures. It's easy for Heard to blame the shaky economy but those dealerships would have gone under in a booming economy.

GM can take some of the blame for not making more fuel efficient cars. It's killing GM dealerships all over the country. Not all are closing, but a lot of them are in serious pain.

Even with all that, the Heard dealerships went under because of bad management. They were managed horribly. So horribly their primary financing outfit GMAC even cut them off. Any company managed as badly as Heard Chevy deserves to fail. Check out this article in the Orlando Sentinel. It's worth reading because it's a perfect formula for managing a dealership out of business.

I agree about Mattress Mac. He's the best. If you're doing a remote at Gallery, he treats you well, also. I wish him even more success.

I really wanted to hate Mac after running all of his damn commercials...

...but every time I go in that place he's at the front door, and every time I've found something I want to buy there his people go above and beyond in treating me right.

Mac's one of the good guys, even if he sounds like he's got a hernia while reading his copy.

A hernia and entirely too much caffeine. You're right though. My wife and I have gone to his store several times in the past several years, and every time we've seen him out on the floor meeting and greeting people and making sure they get the help they're looking for.
