I'm sorry to tell you, Tony, but very few old tv films (they're called kinescopes) exist of any tv shows between 1948 and 1951. Broadcast ccoverage of boxing matches that did not involve Sugar Ray Robinson, Jersey Joe Wolcott, Rocky Marciano or similar big names were probably destroyed by DuMont and the other networks years ago. I looked up you dad's record, it is very impressive. But, sadly, it has nothing to do with how or why certain recordings of radio and tv shows exist and others do not. 90% of the old radio and tv recordings that do exist are comedy, drama, variety, mystery or news broadcasts. The only films/radio broadcasts that I have ever seen or heard of sporting events are the real big events featuring teams or athletes known nationwide. And there are very few of those. I think that your best bet is to focus your search in New Jersey.

Since I wrote those comments, a lot more videos from that era have come to light, both from the above sources and you tube

Edie Adams, the widow of Ernie Kovacs, had testified before a Congressional committee that virtually the entire
library of kinescopes made by the DuMont Network were taken out and dumped into the East River sometime in
the early 1970's. Apparently they had not kept up on the rent for their warehouse space and the landlord wanted
them out of there.

Yes I remember that story. Other nets simply burned they kinescopes and erased their tapes. It is remarkable that we have what we have.
