How do you fix a noisy button on the front of an SG-J500 Panasonic radio?...

a. How do you fix it?
How do you fix a noisy FM selection button on the front of an SG-J500 Panasonic radio?... sometimes a buzzing is heard over the speakers that's resolved by pressing a red off button and pressing the FM selection button back and forth over and over until the noises stop.

b. Cause?
What's causes a noisy FM selection button to have to be pressed, jiggled repeatedly until the noise is gone?... or mitigates.

c. Access to the inside of the button?
How do you get access to the connectors of the button(s) to see if it's dust?... the chassis enclosure looks to be a major project if it can be opened, get inside, get it back together right. Ideally, the best would be fixing noisy button(s) without having to open the case!

You are probably going to have to get inside the radio. I'm not familiar with that model, but I doubt its a major operation to at least get to the switch from the back. I wouldn't think you'd need to completely disassemble it.

The first thing I'd try for any noisy control is a couple of good shots of a contact cleaner like DeOxit or the like. Let it dry well and try it out. Sometimes that's all it takes.

If you can get the back off the radio, use some Deoxit to start with and work the switch on and off while you spray it s l o w l y.

You may find that's all you need to get it back to working condition.
