How far can WEZW 93.1 go on a pretty good FM radio?

I am just asking how far can 93.1 WEZW go on a good FM radio? That is because I want to listen to the Phillies on a portable HD radio in Ocean City, NJ because they are on that station.

Don't expect to get an HD signal in Ocean City. Getting an analog signal there depends on where you are and how good an antenna you use. Check FM antennas in the C. Crane catalog.

My Insignia portable HD radio is like a very good car stereo antenna.

Ocean City, NJ or Ocean City, MD?

Ocean City, NJ should be do-able with that radio.

With a very good car stereo WEZW can be heard all the way up to Beach Haven if you're parked in the right spot.

Connecticut to Virginia, but only during tropo ;)

You should easily hear the Phillies on 1210 WPHT in either Ocean City.

93.1 doesn't broadcast in HD.

You CAN listen to 1210 on the beach in Ocean City, NJ. I've listened on my old, old walkman. It's what I bring to the beach. Don't want sand in my newer stuff.

You're not missing anything on the FM simulcast feed. If it's as bad as last years', you won't be listening long. It's not what you think. It was monaural on a stereo carrier, distorted, clipped, full of digital artifacts, gritty and grainy. Also, the FM processing, set for EZ music, gave it the 'empty stadium' effect with little crowd noise to add excitement. The AM was more forgiving, fuller, richer and processed better, especially 1340.

1340 actually sounds good, because it has a bit of an echo to it. 1230 sounds very distorted and bad. BTW, Tom McCarthy was doing a ad for the Phillies on 1340, 1230, and 93.1. He said 93.1 was in FM stereo.

I was expecting it to be like Eagles games on WYSP or Postseason games on 97.5.

The funny thing is, when I listen to WMID on line, have been for years, all the music is in pure stereo, very clear and great channel separation. I guess our boy knows how to do it right... the on-line feed sounds better than the mono OTA broadcast...have to love it :)

phils...93.1 is in multiplex stereo, and music sounds fine, but the game feed is monaural. Just because the 10 cent Stereo light goes on doesn't mean the source, or reproduction, is stereophonic. It means the 19Kc FM Stereo Pilot is on the carrier. Elvis Presly's 'Jailhouse Rock' and Chuck Berry's 'Johnny B. Goode' have been played to death on Stereo FM stations in Philly, but never in stereo. Playing a monophonic source on a Stereo Mulitplex station will never make it stereo, just 2 channel mono. G.I.G.O.
