How is your local CBS affiliate handling the new one-hour "Face The Nation"?

How is your local CBS affiliate handling the new one-hour "Face The Nation"?

I noticed that "Face The Nation" expanded to an hour this morning,
and I'm curious as to how the various CBS affiliates are scheduling it.
In my area, WRAL runs the entire hour, 10:30-11:30 AM; WFMY runs
the first half-hour, cuts away to "In Touch With Charles Stanley" at 11,
then runs the second half-hour overnight tonight at 2:05 AM.

I'm especially interested in markets where the CBS affiliate has a church
service at 11 AM (ET); there are several of these in South Carolina and
Georgia.

No change in Phoenix. It ran in its normal time slot but since I didn't watch it I don't know whether it was 1/2 or one hour. If it ran one hour it would have displaced an infomercial.

I did hear a promo during 'CBS Sunday Morning' that FTN would feature Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul and was wondering why anyone would care since both have seemingly become irrelevant.

WKRG-TV in Mobile, Alabama broadcast all of "Face the Nation" between 9:30 AM and 10:30 AM (Central) before broadcasting a paid commercial program between 10:30 AM and 11:00 AM. The station normally has paid commercial programming scheduled for broadcast between 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM on Sunday.

Re: How is your local CBS affiliate handling the new one-hour "Face The Nation"?

Considering our CBS affiliate airs Face The Nation at staggered hours-- this weekend at 1:00 in the morning-- I don't think the hour-long format will affect them.

They're handling it very well, thank you

Re: How is your local CBS affiliate handling the new one-hour "Face The Nation"?

According to zap2it.com, KPHO-TV Phoenix aired CBS News Sunday Morning at 7 PT,
followed by the one-hour Face The Nation at 8:30, both on a one-hour delay. Then,
"paid programming" at 9:30.

But in Tucson, the KOLD-TV schedule shows Sunday Morning at 8 PT, then only the
first half-hour of FTN 9:30-10.

Both affils went to live net at 10 AM PT for tennis.

Meanwhile over in El Lay, KCBS-TV won't run FTN until 4-5 PM PT, although they
did air Sunday Morning live at 6 AM.

Re: How is your local CBS affiliate handling the new one-hour "Face The Nation"?

Very badly here in Rochester. WROC-TV has been delaying the half-hour FTN until 11:30 AM to run an hour of infomercials out of Sunday Morning. They're still delaying FTN half an hour and running it 11 AM-noon, but they're delaying it locally - and without local HD capability, that means it airs in SD instead of in the network HD we were getting (presumably there was a CBS refeed of FTN on the network in HD at 11:30 AM ET.)

Re: How is your local CBS affiliate handling the new one-hour "Face The Nation"?

What is the worst that could happen? A half hour less of infomericals? Just jack up the rates based on the idea that the time is "move valuable" now. No brainer. (And on a more serious note, this notion is true. If CBS is in place for a half hour longer, the time IS more valuable.)

Twin Cities-- a 10-11am newscast moved ahead 30 minutes. Today it was 30 minutes only due to sports starting at 11; next week, news goes to 11:30.

Re: How is your local CBS affiliate handling the new one-hour "Face The Nation"?

I thought the original plan was to cut a half-hour off of "Sunday Morning" to expand "FTN" for the election season?

Re: How is your local CBS affiliate handling the new one-hour "Face The Nation"?

This morning in Birmingham on WIAT-42:

9:30 Face the Nation
10:00 Dawson Memorial Baptist Church (tape delay of last Sunday's service; Channel 42 has been airing their morning service for 40+ years)
11:00 Motorcross

It doesn't look as if they have the second half-hour of Face the Nation scheduled.

Re: How is your local CBS affiliate handling the new one-hour "Face The Nation"?

In Providence I caught the 2nd half hour on Our CBS affiliates on thier FOX subchannel MYRITV 64.2 at 11:30

Don't know about the normal time because of Tennis coverage, but KIRO-TV 7 here in the Seattle, WA area postponed airing it until Midnight tonight (about a minute from now as i'm typing), in it's hour-long entirety.
