WMBR does not broadcast in HD.

Why are you starting a new post thread asking this for each non-commercial or college affiliated FM station in the Boston area? Are you outside the area and not able to listen, or have you not purchased an HD radio?

Later tonight when I have time, I'll post ONE list in ONE post of all the HD radio channels on the air in the Boston area for you.

For now it's a wait for boomboxes' or tabletops' HD radios, reliable, with the better audio quality of, for example, a Tivoli or a Bose to turn up. Or a new approach to the technology that brings the mediums together more universally.

How do you sort out which hybrid digital HD radio subchannels' broadcasts are available on the web or are only available via an HD radio set?

That's easy. Simply go to the parent stations website, and see if they offer a link to listen to a stream of their HD subchannel(s).

You can easily find radio station websites by doing a web search for the station (on Google, etc...), or many station websites are linked on the radio station search engine http://www.radio-locator.com.

"thezak", now I know who you are, and that you are in the Boston/Cambridge area and could receive local HD radio. You could easily answer all of your own questions by purchasing the Insignia portable, still on sale at many Best Buy stores for about $50 (or on eBay for about half that), or by purchasing a number of home HD radios that are still available on eBay, Amazon, etc...

If you're really curious about listening to local HD radio, I wouldn't wait around for new models to maybe appear. Perhaps that may happen at some point if the industry decides to actually get behind HD and turn it around, but at this time, most models have been deleted from manufacturers catalogs and removed from store shelves, and it doesn't appear that they will be replaced with new models anytime soon.

The earbuds that come with it are terrible. I replaced my Insignia earbuds with better quality Sony's, and the difference was striking.

Also, from the headphone jack, you can plug it into the input of any home radio or stereo that has one, with a cable or adapter readily available at any Radio Shack.

When you're on the radio early mornings, is it the end of an all night shift? An early shift? Or recorded?

It's fairly complete and accurate except for the following:

88.9 WERS HD2 is not AAA, it's Broadway and show music.

89.7 WGBH HD1 no longer has classical (Cls) included in its programming.
89.7 WGBH HD2 is classical, but note that it's a rebroadcast of 99.5 WCRB.
89.7 WGBH HD3 is a rebroadcast of WCAI/WNAN on the Cape and Islands.

91.7 WNEF HD1 is no longer strictly folk, it's now folk/roots-leaning AAA.
91.9 WUMB HD1 see WNEF HD1 above.

92.9 WBOS HD2 is no longer "Radio You". It's automated modern rock/AAA.

103.3 WODS HD1 is no longer Oldies, it's a Classic Hits format.
103.3 WODS HD3 is "Mercy Rock", contemporary Christian rock/pop

There are no other HD FM stations or subchannels in metro Boston, so don't ask about any other stations! Any other Boston area FM stations not listed at the HD radio link, or in my revision here, are not broadcasting HD.

AM:

800 WNNW I have heard no longer broadcasts HD. I don't live close enough to tell.

1200 WXKS has never broadcast in HD as far as I have heard.

Former HD station:

1090 WILD very briefly broadcast in HD in the mid-2000s.

There are no other current or former HD AM stations in metro Boston.
