Great article on Pardo. Thanks anotherguy.
Being too young to remember much 50s TV, my first exposure to Don Pardo was as a Jeopardy addict in the 60s - at least during school holidays, or when I was home sick. I remember Pardo's opening:
"Now entering the studio are today's contestants......these three people will compete for cash prizes today on Jeopardy..." followed by Art Fleming's effusive:
"GOOOOOOD MORRRRNINNNGG! Thank you Don Pardo, thank you friends!"
Uh - Fleming's style was quite different than the reserved Alex Trebek. I remember that Fleming always introduced the specific sponsor by product name going into the commerical break, encouraging the viewers to "please watch this important message, won't you?"
