How many of you have an HD radio?

.......to answer Tom's "outboard power supply" question...........it's much less involved and less expensive to manufacture electronics with wall warts or outboard power supplies. This eliminates much of the need for noise suppression on circuits with limited signal information. Yes, the outboard one's fail more frequently, but that is just additional revenue for somebody. Convenience takes a back seat to economics.

The JVC HD Radio in the car does NOT allow pre-sets of the HD sub channels.... you must tune to the sub channel each and every time. :(

The Radio Shack Accurian tabletop however does accept HD sub channel presets. The Accurian is buggy though, and sometimes I have to turn it off and then back on to get sound, when the sound goes out scanning presets.

I would like to able to designate, certain station that I NEVER want to get in HD. Specifically the FM Sports stations, like 103.3 and 105.3. When I tune into a Sports station to hear the latest from a game in progress, the LAST thing I want to hear, is for what's being said to repeat itself, as the HD signal comes on. If they could prefect the syncing up, so never heard the "double-speak", then that wopuld be different. Very Aggravating.

Which model do you have, and how old is it? The JVC in-dash unit I have allows presets that go directly to HD2s and HD3s.

I have one of the first JVC HD models, the KD-HDR1.

Nice to see that JVC has responded to consumer wishes. I'm sure I was not the only one that requested direct preset tuning to HD-2 and HD-3 channels.

What JVC model do you have ?

If I ever upgrade to another car radio, I am going to insist on at leat 12 AM presets. What with some AM stations Day only (or practically so with the weaker nighttime power), and what I like to sample on AM, the news, the talk, and the sports, and music, gospel, and KAAM.... I need more than 6 AM presets to keep me satisfied!

I have the KD-AHD39, it's part of their Arsenal line. Overall, I like it, though it has its quirks.

The problem I'm currently experiencing is that the presets apparently lock to a very specific set of circumstances -- right now, one of the stations I have on my presets apparently reset their HD transmitter, so rather than the calls-HD1/HD2 coming up, the display reads HD-HD1/HD2... sadly, the radio doesn't recognize it as being the same signal, so when I hit the preset for that HD2, it will default to the HD1 and then I have to manually kick it up to HD2.

I know it's not 12, but newer Volvos come with 10 AM presets. That's usually enough for me!
