Do you like it?
I do not dislike but I'm not a fanboy. HD was standard on the Kenwood car unit I chose based on other features (BT, SAT Ready, USB). Same for my Sony XDR-F1HD in my house, I got it for DX and its impressive tuner. I do agree with folks who say it's ruining AM reception and my ears can tell the difference between HD and non-HD on FM. The HD often sounds worse esp. on stations with muti-HD's since the bandwidth is divided up.

What do you listen to?
I do not listen to HD that often but when I do it's KDMX-HD2 (Pride Radio), KRLD-HD2 (KRLD-AM), and KDGE-HD2 (The Cutting Edge).

Do your friends know what HD radio is?
No idea. It's never come up in discussions.

If you had a choice, what would you rather have? HD radio or satellite? or your iPod?
SAT, but I often play MP3's from a USB stick or stream internet stations via my phone via Bluetooth in my car.

I guess I'm too young to remember the AM stereo hype. I've listened to music on FM all my life.

I got one of those cheapy 39 dollar FM only mini receivers last Christmas. I've played with it for a few days. I tried using it in my car, but there are just too many drop outs (I expected that). 99 percent of my listening is in vehicle so it sits in my desk drawer, waiting for a reason for me to use it.

I liked AM Stereo, had a Pioneer AM Stereo installed in my 79 Thunderbird. (Liked that car too.)
In this market 570 (KRQX) 1150 (KVIL) & 1310 (KAAM) were Stereo.

Never tried HD Radio. From what I read on this Board, I'm in no hurry.

Do you like it? It is okay... I bought a dock for my XM Roadie so I listen to that mostly.

What do you listen to? My dogs listen to The Oasis 107.5 HD-2 while I am at work. I used to listen to KPLX HD-2 when they played music... I believe it was called 99.5 The Vibe and also 93.3 had a station called Energy that was pretty good. Now 99.5 is a simulcast of the Ticket and I am not sure if 93.3 is still on.

Yes. I'd like it better if it were wired directly to my aux input. The car dealer instead used the RF modulator function, so my audio quality never gets better than regular FM. Reception of WRR is actually better because the digital signal rarely drops out, while the regular analog signal fades frequently. I tried it for AM. Even at its best, the audio is still tinny. (Except on KAAM where the bass was always too high on AM. I haven't listened in a while.)

What do you listen to?
WRR. The Strip. Occasionally the .2's of KZPS, KEGL and KLUV, just for variety.

They have no clue.

I don't need the monthly charge for sat. I'd pick my iPod first and my HD second.

I don't think you could call AM stereo successful. AM just isn't up to the challenge for music. For talk, additional audio range is nice--just makes voices sound more natural, but the difference between analog and digital is minimal.

I think you should modify that question to include Internet access in the car, which of course would include streaming audio.

If you did that I think you would get better answers, and I suspect that satellite radio would be the loser. If I'm going to pay for something, Internet access would win hands down for me.

It is fantastic, if I have a report, order or other important document that I do not wish to lose, I put it under this remarkable device and it will no blow away regardless of how high the AC is cranked. My best friend actually thought that HD was rolling out to all radio stations, like DTV did for TV stations...yeah, right, like WBAP would really give up a 30+ states CC (and Scotland?!? ) analog signal. I had to break the good news to him. He just thought sure he was right (I don't know where he heard his story from)....

Have several. It isn't that I dislike HD radio, its that the quality of the receivers are unacceptably poor. You can put them in analog mode and they sound like crap. In my case, its the equipment that sucks rather than the HD signal. Now I do see that the HD signals are mostly poorly equalized.

What do you listen to?

KEGL-2, (KRLD-HD2) (forget the FM calls), KLUV-2 (thats where the oldies went!). Unfortunately, all of the radios that I listen to most are my trusty old high-end systems that sound so much better (than the HD radios in analog mode or digital mode).

HD radio with decent quality receivers and some attention by the stations on properly equaling the sound in the first place.

No HD. Sat radio 4 me. Luv me some Deep tracks and lots more. HD is going the way of Am Stereo. IP Radio is on the way. When the kids link up Iphone with the car; It's over. I play my own formats through out my house and when I can link up with the car. I only hear bits of fm now switching the radio in the car from the ticket to sat radio. But then I'm out of the demo that mean anything to adverts anyway. What do I know.

I had an HD radio in my last car.
It sounded awesome on FM when it worked!
More often than not, it would drop the signal and revert back to analog and cause a few seconds delay - unbelievably annoying - can't imagine anyone putting up with that.

I thought it also sounded great for AM, again, when it worked. The quality really is very close to FM.
But the same issue, it would drop and revert to analog which was counter to the point.

Great idea, just doesn't seem to work. If it did, I would have ordered my new car with it last year - I did not.

Thus....the problem.

I have a home Sony unit for the home stereo.

Bought it about 2 years ago. It came with a 'wire' antenna, the kind where its just a wire with the jacket stripped off the end. I had to run it across the floor to tape it up in a window to get a signal. And even though it was 'digital', it still static'd from time to time.

I found the HD-2 and 3 channels....neat.

It's been in a closet for 12-16 months.

I'm usually quick to get new gadgets but I heard about the reception problems with HD & didn't get one. I listen to talk radio mostly anyway & it doesn't require HD. Instead I bought an IP radio for the house that doesn't give me reception issues, plus 15,000 Reciva stations all over the globe. Nice trade-off.

I don't see mobile IP taking off if cell providers cap the monthly usage, like the new iPads & iPhone plans are getting now. At $25 per 2 MB, it wouldn't take much streaming before you have to get a second mortgage. Might be ok for other web apps but any kind of audio/video streaming would break the bank. I was lucky to get in under the wire, and got unlimited data. But when my phone croaks, so will my unlimited plan. Enjoying it while it lasts. ;D
