Confusing question. Do you mean - how much do the individual people (personalities) make in salary? ...or...how much revenue do these shows bring in?

I heard a few years ago that Don Bleu was the highest paid personality in the SF market. Since then I've also heard that Sarah makes over $1 million per year.

Personally, I don't get it...in either case. But I'm not in charge

Before the Dog House Broke up I know that JV was bringing in over 700K per year, along with Hollywood and Elvis. Ruthie was in the 2-300K range I believe. I would assume now JV makes around 2-300K per year. Don't know about those other guys.

At one point a lawsuit filed by the afternoon show at FreeFM against CBS showed the afternoon shift pulling in $400K /year + incentive for rating success. This was just for the main guy, the additional support was in the range of 160-200K /year. The market and advertising dollar has effected pay in radio. Morning DJ's making 1Million in the SF market have had to re-do contracts. 300-600K /year is pretty average. However this is for the show not one person.

In the days that the DH was #1 in the bay JV pulled in 700K, Elvis 300K, and Hollywood around 120-200K. All these numbers didn't include Incentive for ratings. This # in some cases can double a salary.

At the time, it was said to be a 2 million dollar morning show (by someone who would know.) Those numbers are, as pointed out above, pretty much a thing of the past in SF mornings at this point. The 300-600 figure sounds pretty accurate to me at this point.

If it was ever considered unethical, it's not anymore = in this age of constant and instant information. The contracts and salaries of pro athletes and celebrities are publicized all over the media constantly. You could certainly consider morning radio hosts in the #4 market to be local 'celebrities.'

I work in a large public agency where we discourage employees from comparing salaries to others doing their same job. But now that these salaries are published all over the internet a few times a year for everybody to see, it's almost impossible to discourage this practice.

Not discussing pay is not an ethical issue so much as it is a business tactic by management to enable them to pay less than market rate wherever possible. OTOH, it is in the best interests of employees to know what the market value is of a person in a similar position so that they can negotiate on a level playing field for a market rate salary and benefits. As LKeller noted, there are numerous web sites now that address this, so at any rate, the "cat is out of the bag" on this issue. Perhaps since the Doghouse was being discussed earlier in this thread, that should be "the dog's out of the doghouse."

I guess that makes sense, but still seems wrong. I work for a corporation, two at that, and they both have rules that salary is not to be disclosed to anyone.

I dont think sharing a jocks salary is at a benefit to other jocks in the same market to have a starting point to bargain. A general average of the salaries in the market is ok, but not one specific individuals salary. On the other hand, it is at an advantage of the business to try and offer the lowest salary possible, and thats not unethical, that's business.

I dont consider jocks to be celebrities, and still dont get why their contracts would be shared with All Access. How do they get this info? Ill be darned if my salary is public.
