I think he's perfect for this show. This is not strictly a music show. He was wrong for Idol, because his knowledge of music is limited to what he likes. But his old syndicated TV show was filled with various types of amateur talent, so this is his kind of show.

I think it's interesting that they're moving the show to NYC to accomodate him. How will that affect the other judges? Might there be a couple more openings soon?

Howard loves the misfits so I'd expect to see a few of the more bizarre gimmick acts to be let through the early preliminary rounds. Piers tended to keep on the straight path but even he let a couple of the more ridiculous acts through. Sharron and Howard are friends (or at least well acquainted enough with each other) and could form a voting block to advance the oddballs even though they will ultimately have no shot in the later rounds when America votes.

However, keeping Howard from making everything about Howard will be a chore.

I don't get it. Howard Stern really isn't really that relevant anymore, and the quality of his show is dwindling. The guy is getting old. Why are we getting 57 year olds to host shows that target the 18-49 demo?

Keep in mind he's not the oldest person on that show. And a lot of young people seemed to like 80-year-old Regis. I hear he's got another game show in the works. The fact is that Howard for some reason reaches 18-49s.
