Howie Carr - Arbiter of Taste & the CITGO sign

I am a journalist. I stand by my investigations of Hendrix, The Doors, Janis Joplin, and bringing to the public rarities like Little Walter's tape of Hendrix & Little Richard. Last night I was with the woman who was with Walter at the Hendrix show - so I got more information for my book on Jimi. That's what journalists do.

Based on your consistently inaccurate posts in this forum, I would encourage anyone looking for fully researched documents on these subjects to look elsewhere. You have repeatedly displayed a propensity for knee-jerk journalism. I do not, and would not consider anything authored by you to be credible.

RE: Paul Marshall
Yes, Ron Valeri may have let you go, I have evidence that it was Jason Wolfe that may have actually fired you.

This is an amazing post. Mr. Wolfe and I have never worked together. The extent of our interaction is limited to friendly discussions in the hallways of the Entercom building. Mr. Wolfe procured me tickets to the Raiders/Patriots game 2 years ago, and joined me at my tailgate for some food prior to said game. That's the total interaction I've had with Mr. Wolfe. He is hugely successful, and I would work with him/for him at any time. I have nothing but respect for the man. If you're reading this...thanks for the tickets Jason.

Clearly I've "gotten to" you, Paul and that was not my intent. You tried to Swift Boat me and continue to do so.
Sorry you are having such a bad day. You shouldn't throw rocks as much as you do, but I guess being a NeanderPaul, well, that's what they did in the stone age --- ??? (I'm asking...)

Consider Radio Pakistan so Bush can blast you back to your real home: Neanderthal= Stone Age.

Have you checked your blood pressure?

Notice how the Entercom employee keeps raiding the thread and not talking about Carr?

(have to go to lunch now, Paul, so you can attack me with no response from this camp. Since I believe you to be a coward I'm sure you'll try to level me while I'm away from my computer). Can you control yourself for a few hours, luv?

Yes. Name-calling is the sure sign of the defeated. Thanks Scribe. Enjoy your crow.

The subject sidetracked from Carr's ridiculous non-essential programming about a Citgo sign during a heated election campaign where The Boston Herald cites "race baiting" and Kerry Healy in the same paragraph (page 4 of Today's Herald) - something Howie should be talking about.

http://news.bostonherald.com/localPolitics/view.bg?articleid=158782

Speaking to WCVB-TV’s Janet Wu in an interview yesterday, Johnston accused Healey of using immigration and crime as racially infused wedge issues.

“I think the language that she’s using is - borders on race-baiting and I think that it’s fear-mongering of the worst sort and I think she ought to stop it,” Johnston said. “She should not run a campaign that plays to the worst instincts in people.”
===========================================================================
Hey Howie - forget Chavez, forget Citgo - let's talk about Muffy the Racist. From Spacist to Racist!

Hey, if Howie doesn't want to get real programming with serious topics it is kind of like Paul Marshall declaring with certainty that I wouldn't give him a job in the 1990s. A non-issue thrown onto the airwaves (or into this thread) to take the subject matter and send it sideways or off the radar.

Paul has No credibility, can't even remember the alleged station when I wasn't in radio at all - nope - we're supposed to accept his lies and false statements as fact.

Paul Marshall can't remember the radio station or the person who wouldn't hire him -
but claims with absolute certainty that I was the person who hired at a Sports Station? Yeah, we were broadcasting out of the 199 Merrimac - a Sports bar that played disco!

Consider the source that is Paul Marshall. I would hope he doesn't like my writing style. His opinion means nothing to anyone, certainly not to the stations who hire in Boston. He wasn't hired in the 90s by a sports station and takes a hissy fit. He holds onto the anger. He hates Howie Carr. He can't believe no Boston station wanted him. Kansas City here he come. Don't let Wilburt Harrison's one man band hit ya on the way out.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Strickly speaking, when you go to the U.N. you leave the United States.
The United Nations building is on International land. So whatever you and I think of Chavez, he technically did not insult the president while on "American soil".

As for Howie Carr, he sells soap for a living, be it in print or on the air.

Harlem is definitely US soil. Chavez was at Mount Olive Baptist church this week. Representative Rangel said ""You don't come into my country; you don't come into my congressional district and you don't condemn my president," regarding his tirade.

http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/09/21/chavez.ny/index.html

I have never considered George W. Bush "my" president. My elected president is Al Gore. Chavez is absolutely correct that little George took over the family business (Daddy's little boy!). I wish my elected Democratic officials would use the Chavez incident to laugh at Bush. I realize Hillary has to be Hillary and - like Nancy Pelosi - seem oh so outraged. But let's be real. Deep inside Hillary loves what Chavez said, Dick Cheney hates America but loves to have that offshore Cayman Island account that a national TV show spotlighted re: Halliburton - and the Boston Globe has a great cartoon today with George W. Bush's "what me worry?" look saying Chavez still doesn't get who the devil in the Administration is - with Dick Cheney holding a pitchfork and looking devlish. Now that is accurate.

But IF Howie Carr really wanted to discuss Bush and Chavez he should open the lines to DISCUSSION.
In this Blue State all I heard as I drove home was Howie's side of the story with listeners that agreed to him.
That's good - or bad - call screening, depending on your definition of screening.

Howie wants his 1st Ammendment right, but blocks yours! That is called CENSORSHIP OF THE AIRWAVES.
No independent thought allowed (Go see the film THEY LIVE)

I agree with Neanderpaul that people are passionate about the Citgo sign (I am), and with the poster that says Howie has a right to talk about anything he wants. My opinion is that I - and others - are more passionate about Muffy and Deval and other things. That he picked the wrong topic. As soon as I got out of the car I came home to the computer to Ed Schultz on in the background so...another listener making the switch. A solid topic might've had me turn the home radio to 680. Citgo sign: wrong topic.

Nice to be able to MODIFY and note WLYNgym below refuses to listen to Carr. Reason is - bad topics recently - nothing worthy of your time.

Howie is free to discuss any topic that he wishes. Personally, I wouldn't waste 5 seconds of my time listening to him. A one-joke comic "everybody is a hack" - when the biggest hack of all is...

Howie is hilarious and great to listen to, in my opinion. And he thanks all in this thread for the "say what you want, just spell my name right" publicity. There's nothing like a hit!

A simple email to the editors of those periodicals and request for a wage scale for someone interested in doing so freelance work will tell the tale about how lucrative these writing gigs are for our "journalist" friend here. That will put this to rest.

Deleted cuz I have already wasted too much of your time!

My point's made.

I'm out. We'll see for how long tis time :)

The only point is that Paul Marshall lies on these threads. Paul still can't tell us the name of the alleged radio station that didn't hire him and the name of the person he said absolutely was me.

He is lying to us repeatedly.

Just about 40 minutes it appears :)

It was you scribe. You hired me. I did a reference check on you, and based on the information obtained, I respectfully declined your offer. Two weeks later you called my home in Winchester, Massachusetts on the evening that you wanted me to start on, and lambasted me with my fiance' standing next to me. We were on our way to dinner and I told you as much before hanging up on you. But, not until you uttered the legendary "You'll never work in this business!" You know this to be truth. Be thankful I don't care enough to go get phone records. Did I mention Marshall's not my birth name?

;D

I'm willing to leave this board, and you to your soapbox, never to reply to another of your posts, or responses, if you're willing to never reference me again. In your world I didn't matter anyway. It should be an easy decision.

Take me up on it scribe, and I'm gone forever. Promise.

Again, the Entercom employee defames someone on a thread that was criticizing a different Entercom employee's show. He starts a different thread praising one Entercom employee, barges onto this thread attacking someone criticizing another Entercom radio show. He is a Music Director of a Kansas based Entercom property.

Do the math. Entercom + Entercom = Entercom.

Paul can hijack a thread (again) but can't give us a date, a time, a radio station, any specifics.

When did I ever "hire" people for a Sports Radio station in Marlborough?

Conclusion: Paul Marshall has an axe to grind. He's not objective and he will write any lie to defame someone.

Period.

Varulven said:

Defame:
1. to attack the good name or reputation of, as by uttering or publishing maliciously or falsely anything injurious; slander or libel.

No malice. Nothing injurious. The above post can be verified by anyone who chooses to take the proper legal route and obtain the phone records. It's not worth the effort, but it can be done. Anything critical toward you posted on these boards has been based in fact. Your writings are often times inaccurate in their content, and have been proven that they should be viewed with skepticism. It's criticism. Not an attack. They don't violate this board's TOS, or I'm sure you'd have had them removed. In my opinion, you've already tried, and are frustrated that the Moderators refuse to remove them. Were these criticisms to be in any way objectionable to those who run Radio-Info, I'd have been contacted, and either asked to stop, or they'd have been deleted. I'm playing by the rules you have spent months hiding behind.

Leave me alone, and I'll go away. It's that simple. Continue to post falsehood regarding my career, and I will continue to point out the inaccuracies. I don't have anything personal against you. I want you to keep my name out of your posts. Nothing I've done is relevant to your agenda. I don't work in Boston. And in your estimation was unimportant when I did. Therefore, there's no reason to reference me.

On my honor, I'm gone if you'll never mention me again. Continue to harass me, and I'll respond. Harassment on an internet message board is also actionable. You know this. The choice is yours. I've asked the Moderators to remove my name, and they asked me to reconsider. I'm glad I did.

It's simple. You may criticize every utterance I made while employed in Boston. I would hope you heard them first hand. I'm fairly certain, by your own prior admission, you have never heard me on the radio. Therefore, I'd ask that you do some research before criticizing my professional abilities. You may not print untruths with regard to my career. If you personally thought I was terrible, that's fine. Of course, having never heard me, it would be difficult to comment credibly on the subject. I was dismissed by WAAF due to a change in direction made by the Program Director. There is no other reason. I left WBCN of my own accord, on positive terms to accept employment here in Kansas City. Do not state facts regarding me, that are untrue. Do not allege to have documents that directly led to my dismissal from Entercom Boston without providing them. Do not imply that I was fired by WBCN. That is defamation. It is actionable. You know this.

I'm being as civil as I can. I'm being reasonable. I'm making a simple, courteous request. If you have any shred of honor, you'll move on to someone else. If not, I have no other alternative than to defend myself.

Thank You For Reading,

Paul acts like a lawyer but he is absolutely malicious towards multiple people here.
Paul acting "civil" is like Bill O'Reilly having a non-sexual phone call with a producer.
It's like Rush Limbaugh not having a tablet breakfast at Denny's. It's like Oedipus not getting 25 CDs per add on WBCN. An impossibility.

But let's get back to the thread the Entercom employee continues to molest.

Neanderpaul says: "And this comes from someone who absolutely hates Howie. "

Marshall says that he "hates" Howie Carr.

No charge for the lesson, Mr. Music Director (right! ha ha). Playing what your P.D. and Consultant demand you play?.

What do they pay in Kansas these days? 6.25 per hour?

If you couldn't even get a gig at WFNX coming off of a 50,000 watt station, well...no wonder you are so bitter and abusive. Do you listen to Tom Lejkus?

I wouldn't take a job with anyone that's had a restraining order taken out against them by someone in the business, either.

Who can blame Paul for not wanting to work with a lunatic?

Yes I did take a restraining order out against a woman I lived with that was in "the business." She was high on drugs and beat me with an umbrella while I slept. What's your address so I can take one out on you for your constant abuse, Rich? Also, since said woman has continued to stalk me and harass my household my lawyer does not want me discussing this any further. What I will say is that this has a lot to do with the banned one's post that got him banned. The woman I filed for the r/o AND an additional "no contact" order left messages about the subject the banned one discussed. 3 messages about a personal loss on an answering machine. This is repulsive of you.

This was about Howie Carr...but Rich wants to change the subject.

says that he "hates" Howie Carr.

And that is my right. I have every right to hate Howie Carr personally. He knows why. And I'm sure couldn't care less. So far, continued irrelevance to the thread. But I appreciate the interview opportunity. Perhaps someone in managment from a Boston station might read this and give me a job!

Sarcasm: a sharply ironical taunt; sneering or cutting remark.

Varulven said:

Excellent question. I'm well-compensated by Entercom for my services. Thanks for asking.

I never tried to seek employment with WFNX. I respect Max Tolkoff very much. Have told him as much. Your text implies that working for WFNX is some sort of consolation for those who are unable to gain employment anywhere else in Boston. Not very respectful toward those who've worked there past, or present. Who's being abusive?

Varulven said:

No. But, I did spend a few days with him & his crew in Tortola a couple of years ago. Don't have much respect for any man who'd strike a woman. But, he seems to have rebounded professionally. Good for him.

What does this have to do with Howie Carr's choice of show topics again?

Well I've been struck by a woman while I slept. Tom Lejkus is a good talk show host - it's too bad he did that.
Having been on the receiving end - finding a butcher knife a quarter of an inch from my temple because I was friendly with that person, I can tell you, it isn't pleasant. I have no respect for Mr. Lejkus.

And you're right - we've gotten off the Carr topic because you started in on my writing.

The TRO was taken out against you.

I have no idea what woman beat you with an umbrella, but I'm sure that there are hundreds of Bostonians that would like to know who she is. To thank her.

Woburn could use a statue of a true hero, I think.
