Howie To Make Major Announcement on Phantom Gourmet Saturday

"Breaking News--Howie Carr Makes Major Announcement
on Phantom Gourmet Saturday"

The show airs Sat. at 10 am and 5 pm on Ch 38
(also Sun 11 am on Ch 38) and Saturdays 5-7 pm on
WTKK. Hmm!

For all we know, the announcement could be "I Like Fried Clams"
 
this may have something to do with it: when you click on Howie's pic it takes you to the Kowloon's
site (hi howaya!). We'll see. (Who knows...)
 
Put me down for an announcement regarding Phantom's annual Chinese Food Bonanza at Kowloon, a fine eating extravaganza that I have attended in the past. Smart move by the Andelman boys to capitalize on Howie's free time, regardless of the "announcement". Bet the ranch that he only appears on the TV Show, not TKK though.

I've always been curious--what percentage of Kowloon do the Andelman family own? Or FuddruckAHS for that matter.
 
They also have a full page ad in today's Herald saying that "Boston has been waiting for a major
announcement" by Carr and that he'll make it on Phantom Gourmet. I think the ad only mentions
the TV show.
 
A post on boston-radio-interest wondered if maybe it's a TV show for Howie on 38!
Howie used to be on Channels 2, 7, and 56...and his predecessor Jerry Williams
used to do shows on Channels 25 and 27, IIRC.
 
Think the show is taped so someone should know something.
Maybe he is going on TV in a deal to bring his talk show to TV. Not sure that would work. Howie, like many of us has the perfect face for radio. ;)
 
I've been told that the announcement due in about a half hour on Phantom won't really be a big
deal (despite use of the word "major") and Howie will keep having to go through the legal crap
next week. But I'll relay whatever is said anyways.
 
So far the "big announcement" is Howie talking about restaurants with BIG portions (Common Man;
Luigi's in Wayland; Michael's Deli in Brookline--sandwich named after Howie

Howie: "I've escaped!"

...and that was it! Howie just doing a guest shot on
"The VIP Table" (he also recommends Bickford's for
breakfast: "YOU'RE GOING TO BICKFORDS!" he would proudly
say after giving out gift certificates. Howie says he
hopes to be back on the air soon...

And that was the BIG announcement. Guess we were suckered! :)

Not at all--notice I said the big announcement was something like "I like fried clams" and that's basically
what he said. He likes big portions of everything, he said.

Bickford's? Considering that a few of those have closed around here lately, I would guess that's not such a great idea.

"we" weren't suckered since I'm in Chicago and couldn't listen anyway. There are a LOT of Red Sox caps in Chicago. I have no idea why - must be a sports convention or something.
 
Yeah more than a few bickford's have closed recently (the Swampscott one where Johnny Pesky used
to hang out will become a Pizzeria Uno...he and his friends used to gather there but left because of
a smoking policy, and shifted to Salem Diner AFAIK)
