Howie To Make Major Announcement on Phantom Gourmet Saturday

Yeah more than a few bickford's have closed recently (the Swampscott one where Johnny Pesky used
to hang out will become a Pizzeria Uno...he and his friends used to gather there but left because of
a smoking policy, and shifted to Salem Diner AFAIK)

I saw him in the Vinnin Square Dunks a few times.

I would say nearly 50 locations have closed. As of today there are only 21 left!!!!!! At one time they had close to 75 locations. 2 have closed since August 27. And 10 have closed since July 2006.

If Howie's really off until 2012, Bickfords will be completely gone by then.

So far the "big announcement" is Howie talking about restaurants with BIG portions (Common Man;
Luigi's in Wayland; Michael's Deli in Brookline--sandwich named after Howie

Dan Andelman: "Where you been Howie?"

Howie: "I've escaped!"

...and that was it! Howie just doing a guest shot on
"The VIP Table" (he also recommends Bickford's for
breakfast: "YOU'RE GOING TO BICKFORDS!" he would proudly
say after giving out gift certificates. Howie says he
hopes to be back on the air soon...

And that was the BIG announcement. Guess we were suckered!

luigi's should have pepto on its menu. besides, it's too low brow for howie's dining standards.
the snooty coach grill down the street with its million dollar steaks is more up his alley.
