How's SIX doing with their new(er) morning zoo in Nashville?

Bones is not my cup of tea. I thought Billy & Karla had a better morning show, but just wasn't given enough time to build after Gerry left.

I'm an occasional listener in Austin, where they used to originate from, and I'm guessing they're probably doing as well as expected, although I don't listen as much anymore. Clear Channel made this move to make Bones one of their biggest personalities so they'll give him all the resources needed to succeed.

There ratings have generally gone up (slight dip this month), and they've once again took the lead in the country battle over KDF & WSM FM. So I'd say it's been a good move. WSIX has took a younger, hipper approach to the music rotation, imaging, & now personalities & I think it's the correct decision. Today's country is growing fastest among the younger demos (18-34 especially, where it's now the 2nd favorite format behind CHR). Bones CHR/gossip, well produced morning show is a sign of where country is going as it becomes more mainstream and popular across genres.

I listened to the House Foundation for years, then Billy & Karla, then just Billy. I tried Bones for a while and I know this is terrible to admit, but the more I listened, the more I felt like they were patting themselves on the back constantly. Yes, they do a lot of good for a lot of charitable programs and have received a lot of deserved positive press for doing so lately. For me, that's wonderful some of the time. It just seems like it was an all the time thing. I know - I am sitting here complaining that they do too much good and that probably sounds crazy to many people but I relate to people who are a bit more entertaining and a bit less perfect.

And, they are always talking about their personal stuff which is fine also but I just got to the point where I felt they wanted me to feel sorry for them every day. Again, I applaud their personal struggles and I sound like a jerk but we all have problems and I want to be flat out entertained sometimes. I want a diversion from my own problems. There were mornings that the whole show was one terrible, sad story after another plus people calling in with their own terrible, sad stories.

With the selection we have on Nashville radio in the morning, after being a loyal Coyote listener for years and then a loyal Gerry listener for years, I've just turned the radio off during the morning drive. I either listen to XM, the TuneIn app, or podcasts. There is nothing "for me" on morning radio and now I have other choices that I didn't have 10 years ago.

Bobby Bones and his crew provide probably the BEST morning show around. I live in Atlanta, where Clear Channel needs
to put this show on their station here, The Bull 94.1. I hear him on Sirius XM channel 57 and enjoy the show a lot. Ditto
for Amy Paige, who follows Bobby on WSIX at 10am. She is one of the best midday radio voices around. Just wish we had
Bobby and Amy on the air here in Atlanta. Our radio market is a waste-land of junk. Nashville, you are lucky to have these
two folks on the air locally...!!
