How's WRAX 100.5 doing? (For those living in northern Alabama)

Just curious. Has The X got its act together in the past eight months since the move, or is it just heading into a downward spiral of meanless crap?

I really miss listening to Alternative rock on the radio up here. If The Rocket would just get a stronger signal coverage, then FM radio wouldn't suck so much in Guntersville. But then you have a better chance of the suits coming in, buying up 95.1 and turn it into an another cookie cutter Top 40 or whatever station than The Rocket getting a monsterous signal coverage like the old 107.7 station had.

Eh, it's improved some. Of course, it would have been almost impossible for it to actually get any worse than it was right before/during/after the flip when it really hit bottom.

Since they have no competition at all anymore and most likely won't for the foreseeable future, they don't really have any reason to be the kickass station they once were. They're perfectly acceptable to the people who haven't gotten satellite yet. If the people I know around here are any indication, that flip was a major boon for Alabama's XM dealers.

That was really an idiotic statement.

So in other words, it's coasting along just like every other station that doesn't have direct competition or the so-called "competition" is own by the same company. It's sad what FM radio has become in the last few years.

I mean really. YOu can't program an Alt. station like a Top 40. You don't spin you powers over 60 times a week. Not a single Alt. station in the country sping them as much.

No it wasn't.

XM has become very popular in the Birmingham.

How do I know?

I drive on the interstate about 2 hours out of the day and you can see the antennas on cars! yay!

Also, the rock stations on XM surpass greatness. Worth the monthly fee.

Its not an idiotic statement at all.

He is right though. The few times I tune in to WRAX now, its Nickelback, Green Day, Gorillaz. That's it. (No its not all they play, but its so frequent, I hear one of those artists EVERY TIME I tune in) Only during Reg and Coyote J's shifts are any kind of varied music.

I'll stick with my perfect reception XM. I am pleased.

Local radio's been fun, but with the conglomerates buying out everything, its all bland playlists and an overload of commercials.

Even the DJs on XM seem happier to be there.
______________

Re-read my post

I implied those are the only blocks worth listening to. :)
______________
