Hummel leaves 6 news and sights Cianci as a reason..

The finest reporter on TV and fill in host on Wpro is leaving 6 news. Jim Hummel sighted Buddy Cianci being a commentator on 6 as a reason. After all Hummel has leads as to the latest Cianci shannagans.. If you in radio think Spanky is now a Good Boy, you need yours heads examined..
Thats a great loss for R.I. losing Hummel.. too bad .. At least he has guts and integrity..

I liked Hummel. It's to bad that he's gone. I would have stuck it out and hoped that Cianci would leave first. That would have worked out in Hummel's favor. Now we'll never know.

None of the accounts I read said anything about Hummel leaving Rhode Island. As for Cianci, although I am not a fan of his, he did serve his time, and if somebody wants to pay him big money to talk on the radio and appear on TV, well that's not his fault either. Just my 2 cents. Thanks

The main reason cited (not sighted-that would be you actually SAW the reason) was the new direction ABC6 was taking and part of that was Hummel being DIRECTED to be the partner on the Cianci pieces. If you took a second to stop and listen you would have heard those salient pieces of information.

On a related note, JD this morning was absolutely HORRIBLE when he had Hummel in the studio, if the door left open a crack, JD helped make sure it was slammed shut and padlocked. Talk about childish.
Dan's interview yesterday was spot on-mature, intelligent and making the full story come out and not spending 15 minutes belittling the station and frankly making an arse of himself like JD did this morning.

wknd, cited instead of sighted... How long have you worn (warn) a dress?
Shall I start coping and pasting police reports of Spanky and what he did to his ex wife Sheila?
Maybe Hummel has some of those reports and a whole (hole) lot more..

Yeah, York is spot on boring. Mature? Yelling and unprepared to do a 4 hour show. He had Hummel stay for 2 hours cause he is lazy and had nothing else prepared. No wonder he has the lowest ratings at 99.7. I heard 96.9 beats york in young demos.

Lawman I have a lot of respect for the police force which I assume you're a member of. Still you're going to have to accept Buddy is here & he's making gobs of money being here. Neither your posts nor the people who probably called WPRO and Channel 6 when he was hired or the people who complained about his being in the parade are going to change anything. If you haven't gotten Buddy's presence out of your system by now then you never will and I say that with respect. The media is using him to their advantage and he's using the media to his advantage. All parties involve win. I think the term is symbiotic relationship.

Funny, I didn't hear him yelling or cutrting Hummel off yesterday at all, could you let me know what parts I missed where he did? Was it a comment on his show overall? No...the subject of the thread is Hummel leaves Ch 6 and in yesterday's 4 & 5 hours as compared to after 8:30am this morning on WPRO (whether it be 630 AM or 99.7 FM (and if you look at the ratings WEAN-FM didn't have any ratings in the book and talk stations don't care about "the young demo". Their main focus is at best 25+, more specifically 35+)). But you knew that already yoyo

Yawn...as usual your act is tired and before saying that you hope to run into me on the street, we've heard it before.

You START the fire, THEN, you complain about the flames that follow...

No person of Law Enforcement likes the idea of a RACKETEER profiting from his crimes, SORRY...

Hummel left because they moved his stories to 11. Few ego's in this business recover from that. I actually liked JD's coverage of the interview. As childish as it was, it also was spot on. Channel 6 has been and always will be the bottom. Having the opportunity to rip a last place media outlet when your #1 is something few can resisit. i'm not his biggest fan but i will start to give him credit for losening up a traditionally uptight approach in that slot. could be why they're number 1. which by they way they ain't shy about saying. lawman either is or employed by easserman. i think the 360 subconsciously represents the complete hold he has on the entire(360 Degrees)department. psyche101

Bloodshot , are you as bad as wknd ? I DESPISE Esserman...Jesus, are you that brain damaged?
You can't get it through your thick heads that Cianci is scum of the WORST kind. 101.

UH, Like Hello.McFLY. Read between the lines Hummel has another gig. That's why he's acting like this.
Trust me 3-6 months on WJAR or WPRI. I bet the house on it.

Look Lawman, we all know you hate Buddy, and if you had it your way, the minimum sentence for stealing a piece of gum would be life behind bars, once a criminal, always a criminal. But you're not doing anything by posting a million topics here. Nothing at all. Paul G might read this board, but I guarantee you that if he does, he's not going to be taking your-or anyone else on here's advice.

Lawman, YOU started the post and started it with inaccuracies. I point out bad spelling and the inaccuracies and you take it down your usual road with a personal attack.
Here is the point, Jim Hummel is not gone (which is the point for his 2 day stint as a guest on WPRO). He has a 3 mth non compete (calling Dr. Summeroff) which he actually should have cashed in back in June after the extension of his contract was up so that for the election cycle he'd be in place at WPRI (which is where I believe he will end up as it was announced not too long ago WJAR is going to be making some cut backs and they already have Rappleye).

I suspect you mean "cites."

Clue-me-in, because, like most people, I don't watch channel 6.
Why does everyone call him by-his-last-name-only?
Is this how he locked-out on-air?

Ok , I gave Buddy a big chance for months. Did anyone hear him going after Mayor Cicillines brother yesterday? It was awful. So personal. He was calling this guy a future jail birl and that he was fat. I mean , isnt Buddy talking about himself! I think he's crazy . Buddy mentioned a couple of police officers names who were selling tickets to some kind of funding event for the mayors brother..Why? I heard Jim Hummel and I dont understand why anyone cant see why he had to leave channel 6. He said it plain as day. Mr Hummel didnt like the direction the station was going in and Mr Hummel felt uncomfortable with former mayor Cianci working for channel 6 as he has and may have to cover mayor Cianci again.

Any time I called Jim, he'd always answer his phone "Hummel"... He is a class act, I had the pleasure of first working with Jim when he filled in for Dan Yorke at PRO, then when I jumped across to HJJ, we had him on with Arlene & Helen quite a number of times. He helped me out a number of times when I was the "new kid" covering elections and the state house. Actually, a few years back at an AP awards dinner, I got the chance to meet his lovely wife - who if you'll believe it, Holland, also calls him Hummel. She said it got a bit confusing whenever they'd go to a Hummel family function - she'd call out "Hummel" and get 30 responses back! :)
