I can't be the only one who can't stand Mark Thompson on the Tim Conway Jr. show

That big empty-headed voice... that weird, high pitched nervous fake-laugh he does whenever Conway says anything conservative... the dull Sunday public affairs-style animal adoption drives. This man is the radio equivalent of leukemia.

I know Conway isn't exactly setting the world on fire anymore either, but I'd rather listen to the origin of "ding dong" for the 500th time than this grating Z-list vegan trouser stain. Hell, I'll take the origin of "ding dong" AND that thing where Timmy spends an entire segment laboriously adding up how much money you'd have now if you bought X shares of Y stock back in Z year. I'd take both of those on a continuous loop before I listen to Mark Thompson. Mark Thompson makes me want to swerve into oncoming traffic.

Is this the Mark & Brian "Mark Thompson" or the former TV weather guy? Mark & Brian's morning show was run in the Bay Area for awhile about 20 years ago, and I kind of liked them. The other Mark Thompson was a meteorologist here on KRON 4 in SF before going to LA for fame and fortune. He was amusing, too - in small doses, like doing the weather. I understand how his big baritone voice could get him announcing and voice-over work, but otherwise did not get the attraction.

The weather guy. I've never listened to the Mark from Mark & Brian and thus can not comment on his talent. Though, compared to the weather man Mark Thompson, I'm sure he sounds like Alan Freed and Jesus Christ had a magical threesome with a Marconi award and he was the result.

Conway has about a half dozen stories that he recycle every week. Clearly a guy living on daddy’s coattails. He’s got a lot of defenders here on this site though.

Eh, he was funny as hell back on KLSX, especially when he was with Steckler. But I agree he's slowed down a lot, gotten soft and lazy. A good example is What the Hell Did Jesse Jackson Say, which used to be a fun, semi-edgy (since some people thought it was racist) way to bust balls on a stupid mushmouth con artist back on KLSX, but on KFI turned into a boring, formulaic game that existed solely as an excuse for Tim to take calls from kids. Mumbling, annoying kid callers are one of the few things more cancerous to radio than Mark Thompson. Thank god they flushed the stale turd known as What the Hell Did Jesse Jackson Say, now we just need to rid ourselves of the clinging poo nugget known as Mark Thompson.

Let me tell you what Ding Dong means, blah, blah, blah. Let me tell you about the time I was thrown out of a Vegas casino, blah, blah, blah. Let me tell you about the time my dad to me to the race track, blah, blah, blah. Let me tell you when I was listening to Rick Dees from far off San Diego County, blah, blah, blah. Let me tell you about this joke Arsenio Hall told me, blah blah, blah. It is the same old stale jokes, gags, and stories endlessly recycled.

Steckler cartied Conway for years. Now that he is gone there is no reason to listen.

Lester Holt (NBC Nightly News) is the black Mark Thompson!

What does that mean? They both have nice voices, but from what I can tell, Holt is an accomplished and qualified journalist. And he was born and raised in the SF Bay Area, so that makes him even better. :cool:Started in radio while in college as DJ at a country station, believe it or not, but would report news on the station too, to supplement the meager DJ wages.

They both seem to have the same voice, same facial features. Or to put it another way, Mark Thompson is he white Lester Holt.

Thompson has a weird effeminate nervous laugh, "Not that there is anything wrong with it".
