I think the issue with 100.5 is that they are so absolutely CONVINCED it is going to work that they want to make it work. Hot AC doesn't need the best numbers to work, it just needs mid-range numbers because it targets the very people who spend money. The problem is that My 100.5 is not even getting the mid-range numbers, they're dead last.
I think this also explains why they're not going all Christmas... if they did, they would get a nice temporary boost, but when they return to normal in January, they would lose those Christmas listeners AND have trouble getting some of the previous loyal listeners to come back. It's weird psychology, but I hate the all-Christmas music radio myself, and last year, I removed 100.5 and 106.9 from my presets in November. I didn't listen to either one again until about March (I added one back to the presets after Louie went to WAY FM, and I oddly enough kept WWWY 106.1 from Columbus, IN on my presets for a while even though the signal comes and goes in Louisvile). I would imagine that people who only listened for the Christmas music stopped after Christmas too. I think THAT was Gen-X's biggest downfall. The format was something that sort of worked and always seemed to fall off to really low numbers after Christmas music was done.
