I guess louisville will only have 1 station playin all xmas

Quite a break from last year when you had three 100.5,105.1,106.9 playing all christmas music. I do have to give props to summit media for playing a decent mix of xmas music on 106.9. Throwing in the coldplay the jason moraz maroon 5 etc... Now if they would just throw in the punk rock version of the most wonderful time of the year by in memory and relient k twelves days of christmas time will tell. But they are for the most part doing a good job of breaking out of that christmas radio box

It is funny, really, since 106.9 rushed to get the Christmas music on the air before anybody else, in fact I think they were the third station in the nation to go Christmas this year, to beat somebody... but there was nobody to beat. They were in the game all alone.

Well, at least for now... I wouldn't necessarily say that absolutely nobody else will go all Christmas music. It is only November and even though we've been conditioned to think that everybody has to go all Christmas music by the end of the first week of November, I'd say we're not "in the clear" fully until we get to Thanksgiving. And I wouldn't count 100.5 out just yet for going all Christmas, I would say it is still possible despite what they're saying.

I'm surprised 102.3 has never gone all Christmas (though they do mix some Christmas music into their playlist), but I think they're trying not to mess with things too much over there. It seems that they don't want to take a chance on disturbing what seems to work well enough over there.

The year lrs 102 went the way of love 102.3 which was 1999 in july they played christmas music for five days. The five days prior to christmas. But they were still love then and havent done it since.

It is December 1st, and it looks like Lite 106.9 is in this game alone (well there is WAY-FM as well, but does anybody really know/care about their existence aside from those who attend select megachurches in the area?). I'm really shocked that 100.5 didn't go Christmas, they could really use the listeners. To be honest, though, I think Gen-X may have worked a little better if they didn't do the annual Christmas flips. It seems like their ratings always fell off after Christmas was over because the Christmas listeners went away and their loyal listeners who didn't care one bit about Gen X-Mas took a while to come back.

100.5 MYfm might as well switch to Christmas.WAY-FM is already beating them in the ratings so what do they have to lose?

I think the issue with 100.5 is that they are so absolutely CONVINCED it is going to work that they want to make it work. Hot AC doesn't need the best numbers to work, it just needs mid-range numbers because it targets the very people who spend money. The problem is that My 100.5 is not even getting the mid-range numbers, they're dead last.

I think this also explains why they're not going all Christmas... if they did, they would get a nice temporary boost, but when they return to normal in January, they would lose those Christmas listeners AND have trouble getting some of the previous loyal listeners to come back. It's weird psychology, but I hate the all-Christmas music radio myself, and last year, I removed 100.5 and 106.9 from my presets in November. I didn't listen to either one again until about March (I added one back to the presets after Louie went to WAY FM, and I oddly enough kept WWWY 106.1 from Columbus, IN on my presets for a while even though the signal comes and goes in Louisvile). I would imagine that people who only listened for the Christmas music stopped after Christmas too. I think THAT was Gen-X's biggest downfall. The format was something that sort of worked and always seemed to fall off to really low numbers after Christmas music was done.
