This is somewhat interesting to me.....

NO FROSTY THE SHOWMAN THIS YEAR?

I'm asking cause I already saw something already for the '08 year...."Pick Your Plastic" on there site.

Hmm....

Re: Q100

Probably because Star 94's concert has the big acts (Avril Lavigne, Elliot Yamin, Colbie Callat, Jonas Brothers), Q100 decided they couldn't compete.

That's the advantage of a more powerful signal and long-standing heritage. You generally get the good stuff first.

Another thing...Q100 is now owned by a company so deep in debt (Cumulus) you would wish the debt turned into water that would fill our lakes. Joking aside, it seems to me they are having problems lining up sponsors...thus no concert

And that "Pick Your Plastic" contest on Q100...they are giving away plastic surgery! Good timing after the death of Kayne West's mother as a result of plastic surgery gone wrong.

(((ding ding ding ding))) We have a winner. Aside from that, didn't their Frosty show last year tank?

Way to keep up - Frosty hasn't been around since 2005. Has nothing to do with Star - has to with money and those shows never mean ratings - just lost revenue. Good for Star for still doing theirs - but that is one weak lineup.

Forgive my faux pas riot. So it was 2005 that tanked. Lost revenue? I doubt selling out the Arena @ Gwinett would be be considered losing revenue. Weak lineup is obviously a matter of personal taste. Tell that to those that bought the 7,000+ tickets.

It must have something to do with poor lineups... When you have other stations like Z100 in NYC getting Alicia Keys, Kanye West, Collie, Gym Class Heroes, Carrie Underwood etc...then you get Star 94 with there line up...who really has the MEGA STARS that people really want to see?

RadioChic - 2005's frosty didn't tank in fact I remember it being one of the biggest Holiday shows ever by a radio station - but shortly after that is when Cumulus bought Q and well you know how that goes.

I said I didn't have an issue with Star - and good for them for doing a show, but in general stations do not make money or see ratings boosts from Holiday concerts. Ohh and if you think all 7000 seats were sold - you're very naive - SOLD OUT is a very loose term radio throws around.

It's a matter of numbers. You too could have all those artists play in you living room if you want to pay their fee.

Why blame it on Cumulus? They allow 99x to have Mistletoe Jam. Perhaps it was their inability to attract a quality line-up.

Excellent point. . .

Q100's "FROSTY THE SHOWMAN" DOWNSIZED TO THE "Q100 OFFICE CHRISTMAS PARTY"

Looks like Frosty got downsized and replaced by the "Q100 Office Christmas party" with performances by Benji and Joel from Good Charlotte and Natasha Bedingfield. It's Wednesday 12/12 at The Loft in Midtown, no ticket sales ... "only way in is to win" deal. Any comments? A little weak would you say?

Hmmmm. I dunno. I do know that they had a hard time selling Frosty tix in the past. (Didn't come close to selling out, even with aforementioned artist Alicia Keys headlining one year.) Maybe they are taking a year off??
