I Hear Voices: A Memoir of Love, Death and the Radio by Jean Feraca, University of Wisconsin Press, 163 pages, 24.95. Jean Feraca will read from and discuss I Hear Voices at 7 p.m. Oct. 4 at Borders West, 3750 University Ave. and at noon Oct. 14 in the Overture Center as part of the Wisconsin Book Festival.

Jean Feraca is probably best known in Wisconsin for her work as a longtime radio host on Wisconsin Public Radio. Her show "Here on Earth," which explores global issues, runs every weekday afternoon from 3 to 4 on WHA/AM 970.

What many of her fans might not realize is that Feraca also is a writer. She has authored three poetry collections, and her newly released memoir "I Hear Voices: A Memoir of Love, Death, and the Radio" represents her first book-length foray into prose.
