I Heard WNOK has a NEW DJ...A GIRL DJ!!!

There's a new night jock at 1047WNOK. Her name is Katie and she's awesome! BYE, BYE CJ! :'( You need to check her out. 7p-12a weeknights.

Rare to have a chick as a night jock. I wish her all success. Come to think of it, the last female CHR night jock I can recall was Dominique at WKQB way back in the day.

As for CJ leaving, I don't think anyone will be sorry. Jeebus he was frickin awful.

WNOK has had a history of female air talent at night. Anyone remember Robin King and Pandora Reynolds from the 1980s?

Question is: Is she live or voicetracked?

Robyn

Robyn, I don't think Pandora ever worked nights at NOK. I'm pretty sure she worked middays(before moving to mornings in 1983-84)when she first got to NOK from Z96(within about a month or two after Z96 plunked down over 10 grand to film the WKRP 'Big Guy' TV commercials that included her).

But you're right about 'Rockin' Robin King. I trained her.

Scott, she's just one more in the long line of amazing talent from Orangeburg

EDIT: Wow, check this out: http://www.robinkingrealtor.com/

I didn't know she'd left the business. So many talented people leave it behind.

EDIT #2: I agree on Pandora. My memory is that she did middays, then went to mornings.

Feeling a little nostalgic .... ran across an aircheck online of one of the stations I programmed... my favorite of all of them, KHITS/Tulsa. Probably the first time since I left the business that I'm kinda missing it.

Yep, she was a very talented jock...one of those rare few who resonated with listeners immediately.

As I have heard it called, 104.7 WNOK Charlotte.

Now that's a major whoops (and another sad reflection on how radio has sunk so low).

Scott, thank for the memory jolt about Pandora. Whatever happen to her after WNOK? I remember she was at WRFX in Charlotte back in the early 90s, but lost track of her since then.

Robyn

Not sure what happened to her after her stint at WRFX, Robyn. I spoke to her once or twice around 95-96 when she worked there, but nothing after that. I'll touch base with Jack Anthony and see if he knows. Hope you're doing well, bruddah.

Look, Scott, if I'm going to put the ball to you, you're supposed to set me up for the spike. Surely after all these years of living a bohemian, beer-fueled lifestyle on various and sundry Carolina beaches, you've played a little volleyball, haven't you?

So, when I say: "She's just one more in the long line of amazing talent from Orangeburg", you're supposed to set me up by saying:

"Oh, what other amazing talents are from Orangeburg?"

Hahaha. At my age now, I'm more into watching women's beach volleyball than playing, but I get what you're saying. Let me back up:

'Really Sean? What other amazing talents are from Orangeburg?'

Poker I am in Orangeburg county and would love to hear about some of the local talent that came out of the Orangeburg area.

You're not from Orangeburg unless you eat at Earl Duke's Bar-B-Q by the Pepsi Cola plant at least twice a month.

Orangeburg County makes me suspicious. Sounds like someone from Cameron trying to act like he's from the big city.

Or at least an egg salad sandwich from the Dairy-O on Russell

I said Orangeburg county, I use to watch six gun theater on Saturday on WCSC channel 5 when I was little and Dainel Boon on channel 5 in the afternoons in my teen years. I have eat at Dukes across from the old Pepsi plant many times, Sweatman's BBQ a whole lot more, The Dry Dock a few times, Piggy Park on 301 quit a few times, Quincy's steakhouse on 301 just to name a few places. I remember when 301 was two lane, the coke cola plant was still on Russel street. the old Hospital was over by Carolina ave, and WDXY, WORG, WPJS, and WTND were still on AM radio and the town square still had the sign painted on the side of the brick building telling how many people the station served and you could still read it. Do I need to name any thing else.
