I just recently noticed a new voice in the mornings on The Buzzard

B&T are on the Buzzard OVERNIGHTS. If JB&B failed miserably on WVBZ, how bad would Bob & Tom do?

B&T did well on former Raleigh classic rock WRDU before mgmt started to send WRDU in a classic hits direction, and also didn't promote B&T as well as they had in the past under a former PD (Bob Edwards now at KQRC/KC). Edwards had B*T and WRDU #1 M25-54 before he left March 2003. Mgmt to follow changed direction musically and the station started to slide, B&T as well.

B&T were tried on the original "Buzzard", WMMS/Cleveland, last year... they bombed as Cleveland requires a live, local AM show. B&T lasted all of six months.

B&T, historically, do well in "northern"markets.

I apologize. I saw them on the website and assume, incorrectly, that they were in AM Drive. Why would one think different?

I'm surprised Premiere is allowing the show to air in overnights. There's no prime drivetime clearance for the spots, unless WVBZ is airing the spots outside of the show....which is crazy.

As for ratings, overnights aren't rated. And even if they were, SALES only cares about 6am-7pm Monday-Friday.

Bob and Tom are based at WFBQ in Indianapolis.  I think they became popular with the college kids at Indiana University in Bloomington and as these kids graduated they had a ready made audience throughout the nation.  It couldn't have hurt.

B&T worked in small Michigan markets before WFBQ.

B&T worked in small Michigan markets before WFBQ. One reason why you'll hear Pat Daily on there often. Who? Exactly. Daily is a native Ohio folk singer... a poor man's Buffet... who frequents Kelly's Island and Put-in-Bay off the shore of Ohio, and he winters in Key West.

Boaters from mid to lower Michigan on the Lake Erie side as well as Ohioans, frequent these "party islands". Anyway, Daily is big in Michigan and Northern Ohio. Once B&T made it to WFBQ, even 20 some years later, still have Daily on.

B&T are huge on CC Toledo's WIOT. #1 M25-54 for years. CC had them on a Sandusky OH station, halfway between Toledo and Cleveland, and also tried them on WMMS. Overlapping markets so you never lost B&T.

I first heard them on WONE-FM/Akron in the early 90s.

For what it's worth, Tom Griswold is from the well-to-do eastern Cleveland 'burb of Shaker Heights. And #3 man on the team, Chick McGee, is from Dublin OH, a Columbus suburb.

They're the Midwest version of JB&B...They have comics as often as JB&B have Nascar folks.

Bob & Tom offer an overnight "best of" show, which is what the buzzard apparently airs. It's not the morning show that's run on a syndicated basis in AM drive.
