I just saw of the San Bruno Fire Why is there Conspiacy theories now

I just saw youtube videoes of the San Bruno fire I like to know why is there conspiracies that a Koran Burning took place there. I used to live in San Bruno and I am outraged by people outside of Ca who says that its the Government fault ie Obama or Palin. The only reason the San Bruno fire went national is because that neighborhood is near SFO and it took place 2 days before the 9th anniversary of the 9/11 event. The Local media and Media from China and the Philippines have all blamed PG&E for not maintaing the gas pipes.

Because there are a lot of eccentric people out there who can spin a conspiracy theory out of any tragedy. I have a friend - an otherwise rational person - who believes about 10 different conspiracy theories - JFK assassination, RFK, MLK, the Trilateral Commission's plan for world domination, Michael Jackson's death, 9/11 - you name it.

And I don't think the story going national had anything to do with proximity to 9/11. In this 24/7 cable news world, any sensational story with death, destruction, explosions, and giant flames will go national. They have a lot of air time to fill, and it's a compelling story.

There are conspiracy theories because this planet is over run with drones that believe every videobite and soundblurb that enters their cerebral cortex. In case you didn't know, critical thinking is vastly overrated nowadays.

Theres a difference between the reasons that the San Bruno gas fire aired. The Local Media did it because they were really worried that residents were killed in the fire. The Media in the Philippines and China run that story because they knew that the Bay Area has the largest overseas population of Chinese and Pinoys living in the area. The national media aired it because of the proximity of SFO.

No doubt you're correct. For most people living near the explosion, their first thought was that an airliner had crashed into the neighborhood - a natural assumption given their proximity to SFO. But they didn't necessarily believe it had been a terrorist attack or conspiracy of some kind.

I'm sure the American networks and cable news channels ran the story because it was a large scale disaster. Any major disaster will get national coverage regardless of where it takes place.
