I take it that people in Cuba are not Cubs fans...

Don't many truckers these days listen to SiriusXM rather than AM? I remember reading about them being significant early adopters during XM's first few years.

Yes, interstate truckers almost universally have satellite if they own their own rig. Many large trucking companies provide Sirius / XM as part of the employee benefits as hiring good drivers is rather competitive.

They did it!!! 108 years in the making!!! CUBS WIN!!!!!!!! Final score was 8-7 over the Indians in one of the wildest game 7's I've ever seen, with a tied game, extra innings and a rain delay! You folks in Chicago will officially be celebrating for weeks and months to come! Enjoy! ;)

Not to toss too much cold water on this Series but a team winning just once in the last 107 years is hardly something to brag about.

I wonder if the Cubs will now dismantle the team as did the Diamondbacks after their 2001 Series win over the Yankees resulting in a one and done.

Because you asked that question, I'm going to guess you're not a MLB baseball fan.........

The Diamondbacks did nothing of the sort. In 2002, they still had Johnson and Schilling in the rotation, Kim in the bullpen, Gonzalez, Grace, Counsell, Finley etc. in the field. And they won the NL West with a record of 98-64. You must be confusing them with the 1997 Marlins, whose owner basically made them into a Class AAA team within a few months of their World Series victory over the Indians.

I didn't say WHEN the D-Backs dismantled the team - just that they did. And they were a "one and done" Series winner.

But you are correct in that the D-Backs weren't as destructive as the Marlins.

They were a small-market team that couldn't afford either Schilling or Johnson when their next contract came due, and the performance of veterans like Grace started to decline with age. They were built to repeat in 2002; going out in three straight in the NLCS was a surprise. That was followed by the money- and age-fueled decline. IIRC, the farm system started producing nice talent after some lean years and the "Baby Backs" arrived and made the playoffs again. The team never built on that and the result is what you see today. This is the way things go in baseball, moreso for the small- and medium-market teams, but big-city clubs like the Red Sox, Mets, Dodgers, Angels, White Sox and Cubs are all part of the picture. Even the Yankees can have down years, although they haven't been sub-.500 in quite a while. So I'm still not sure why you call the process the D'backs went through "dismantling."
