I would like to see another chr in los angeles kiss is to rhythmic for my taste

I use to really like kiss a few years ago until they went far more rhythmic  They use to have a really good mix. They had a cool dance mix at noon. I know they get better numbers and all but i just like hearing a good balance flo-rida followed by daughtry and snoop dog and 3 doors down.

After the first real trend for KYSR - the might look at that!

Clear channel will not compete against themselves.

Sadly, the market just doesn't support a all the Hits station on Analog Radio, BUT for those of you that have a HD Radio, KCBS 93.1 has Amp Radio on their HD-2 and they pretty much play the hits, though I have yet to hear Matchbox 20, Blink 182(can't particulary believe Blink isn't being played on a supposed Teen Targeted CHR) Daughtry, Nickelback, and 3 Doors Down. I have heard the "I'm not going to write you a love song" song(forgot the chick that sings that song) and Weezer's Beverly Hills, Linkin Park(their latest) and even have heard Finger Eleven's Paralyze. :)

You can also listen at ampradio.com, but I'm just stating the whole HD Radio thing as we don't have Internet Radio on a device other then a computer...yet.

Maybe Entravision should take another stab at a dance music format on 103.1. Indie ain't doin too well! Hopefully Entravision wouldn't screw it up again like they did with KDL. A format similar to XMs BPM might improve ratings at 103.1. KDL wasn't daring enough. They need to do a format about as daring as Groove 103.1 when it was around -- my favorite dance station of all time! Also, with Roy no longer at CC, CC and KIIS probably and couldn't do anything to kill off dance on 103.1 again.

Maybe they lean rhythmic because of the Hispanic demographic in LA.

Hispanic is not a demographic, it is an ethnicity.

In any case, over 50% of KISS's AQh and Cume are Hispanic. Over 50% of LA's 18-34's, KIIS's target, are Hispanic. Go figure.

I agree. I used to like KIIS up to about 2003. Once John Ivey took over as PD, I haven't liked it as much. Not to say that John isn't doing a good job, I'm just saying it doesn't fit my personal music tastes.

The HD station is probably the only direct competition KIIS will ever see for mainstream CHR. Yes, L.A. has a high Hispanic population that favors rhythmic music, but KIIS has been one of the highest rated/top billing stations in the market (if not the entire country) for most of its existance, with or without its strong rhythmic lean.

As long as CC owns KIIS, KYSR, and KBIG, CC will try hard to keep those stations seperated as much as possible from each other. I don't see KIIS ever leaning back toward a middle of the road CHR again.

I disagree with this statement. Kiss has always changed and evolved with the times, they play whats hot on the charts and in the market and right now thats Rhythmic Music. Kiss is not gonna flip formats anytime soon, and they will go back to playing some POP-Rock product if and when the time comes, maybe after they get their next PD. Im pretty sure the station will out last the PDs job. It may be a few years but Kiss will evolve with the time's again and again when the time comes. If you look at stations like KISS 103.5 in Chicago, they arent that much different, then you have stations like KQKI Detroit which are even more rhythmic leaning.

Maybe Emmis should move their KMVN in that direction. Not much to lose there.

I've been saying this for several MONTHS... and gosh, they have Rick Dees and all of his top 40 experience just wasting away!!! A PD with some good local knowledge and some programming skills could wedge between KIIS and MYFM pretty well at the moment, though that hole isn't quite as big as it was two months ago.
