I would like to see Clear Channel move 97.9 WJLB FM to 92.3 MHz HERE IN DETROIT

I would like to see Clear Channel move WJLB FM at 97.9 MHz here in DETROIT to 92.3 MHz on FM here in DETROIT.

The new station could be named 92.3 WJLB - The D's Hip Hop and R&B.

Then Clear Channel could move the Urban Adult Contemporary format currently on 92.3 MHz to 97.9 MHz here in Detroit and name 97.9 FM - MIX 98 - Today's R&B and Old School Jamz.

97.9 FM here in DETROIT could become 97.9 WMXD FM DETROIT - THE NEW MIX 98 playing Today's R&B and Old School Jamz.

Why would you want Clear Channel to swap 92.3 and 97.9 FM here in Detroit? I think the stations are fine where they are.

So the Steve Harvey Morning Show would come on the stronger signal, like what Radio One did back in 2005 when they swapped 102.7 FM and 105.9 FM frequencies so that the Tom Joyner Morning Show would come on the stronger signal.

105.9 is an immensely better signal than 102.7, at least where coverage of the entire Detroit metro is concerned.

The difference between the 92.3 and 97.9 coverage areas is microscopic, at best. They're both essentially full-B signals transmitting from within Detroit city limits.

Both stations are running fine, they wouldn't want to do a move like that. They run the chance of ruining ratings.

Because I would like to see 92.3 WMXD FM here in DETROIT go to hip hop music.

Are you getting interference of some kind on the WJLB signal on 97.9?

I just want 92.3 WMXD FM here in DETROIT to go hip hop, because 92.3 WPWX FM in CHICAGO is hip hop.

No, I haven't been receiving any interference on the WJLB signal on 97.9, where I live. Actually 97.9 FM WJLB signal is very strong where I live.

Numan, in another thread, you mentioned having some trouble getting WMXD in Ann Arbor. There is a 93kW station @ 778 ft on 91.7 in Ann Arbor (WUOM) that is likely playing havoc with your car radio if you are too close to their tower and trying to listen to WMXD. If WJLB were to move to 92.3 you would have trouble getting WJLB in Ann Arbor. How well can you receive the other Detroit FMs in Ann Arbor?

I can receive all other Detroit FM stations quite well on the east side of Ann Arbor except 102.7 WPZR FM and 92.3 WMXD FM. 88.7 CIMX don't come in good on the east side of Ann Arbor because of interference from 89.1 FM WEMU.

It doesn't make any sense for two heritage urban stations that target two different audiences based on AGE LEVELS (yes, AGE) to trade frequencies. Being owned by CC is one thing, but the frequency format trade sounds like something that Radio One would do. R1 did that to all their markets except for Cleveland, Houston, Dallas, Baltimore and DC.

WJLB 97.9 FM has a stronger signal than WMXD 92.3 FM in most of metro DETROIT area.

Dear Sweet Jesus, everybody thinks they're a programmer.....

Numan, you need to give up, man. The mere fact that a market with a fast-aging demographic like Detroit even HAS a station that comes close is a miracle. The advertisers that support urban music in any market have always been touch-and-go. That's what determines a station's format...ad revenue potential.

BUSINESS IS BUSINESS IS BUSINESS IS BUSINESS.

Who cares? Why the heck does this matter?

And please ... for the love of God ... stop putting the names of cities in all caps.
