I94 (WWFT) flipped the on switch for "The Marco Show" yesterday. Joining him fro

Re: I94 (WWFT) flipped the on switch for "The Marco Show" yesterday. Joining him fro

mouseman the call letters for I94 are WRWM and have been since March of 2008 when they switched from WWFT during the Warm 93.9 days. To think since you have inside sources on the Oldies to 107.9. you would have the call letters right for another Station.

They're both very nice and talented. I hope it's a long and prosperous run for them.

Well they need to flip a switch for their new 6kw cp in lawrence, that would help their listenership in greenwood, plainfield, martinsville, ETC..

the cant flip the switch on for the 6kw cp from lawerence till the mom and pop in terre haute finally gives up the fight they are putting up being forced as the put it to move to 93.7 from the same tower location. they act like they should not be forced to move for an indianapolis area station to upgrade

The difference when they do flip will be marginal. When the 3KW stations jumped to 6KW, there wasn't any case where the results had any real wow factor...it was more like "Well, I'm pretty sure it's a little better". With this case of doing slightly more than a doubling of power, I sincerely doubt that there will be any significant new listenership as a result. If they could make it a full B1, maybe, but it'll be well shy of the 12KW that would equate to a full B1 at that height. It's been my experience that either doubling the height at the same power or quadrupling the power at the same height is what it takes to make a significant difference.

They shouldn't be forced. They should be well compensated for their troubles ... 100% paid for by the station displacing them.

Why should yet another "Indianapolis" station have any more right to the spectrum than any other licensed broadcaster?

Is this the same Marco who recently stunk up the Atlanta airwaves with "The Morning Mess?" If so, my condolences to you all.

Re: I94 (WWFT) flipped the on switch for "The Marco Show" yesterday. Joining him fro

Yep, same Marco. Remember that he came to ATL via Indianapolis and the successful morning show on WNOU (93.1). The Mess still has a pretty good fan base in Indy.

I cut this announcement from Indiana Airwaves and pasted here, just to start some new fun conversation - I guess I should have checked my source before re-posting it here so I guess you got me. My bad.

You, however, can sure act like an ass when someone makes a point that maybe proves your opinion wrong [actually referencing the Oldies dialog elsewhere on this board now].

I was in the building for 11 years, through the history of much of what was Susquehanna's last decade in Indianapolis, until about two years prior to Cumulus' takeover. Those in the business can take that information and pretty much know who I am, and what I do. But for your edification that's about as inside as it gets, Mr. Standards.

However, again you are correct. I failed to double check the calls posted in the Indiana Airwaves headline. I was wrong.

The Atlanta Journal's radio & TV blogger reported just a few days ago that Superphat Mikey (is that his name?) has left radio completely. I don't begrudge Marco landing a new gig, but in Atlanta he always seemed borderline angry--almost as though he might snap at any moment.

He always seemed angry on Radio Now, too.

Anger and/or conflict generate ratings.

Re: I94 (WWFT) flipped the on switch for "The Marco Show" yesterday. Joining him fro

His anger didn't make me want to listen.

Maybe the reason why he stunk up the Atlanta airwaves was because the Atlanta audience didnt go for them. The Morning Mess was very successful here in indy. Maybe it was just they didnt sync with the atlanta market. some shows just dont. Look at Dave smiley. been here in Indy for 8 years. In San Diego or Phoenix I forget which he was on 8 stations in 8 years time. see its just like some shows just dont catch on in some markets.

Re: I94 (WWFT) flipped the on switch for "The Marco Show" yesterday. Joining him fro

I'm pretty sure Smiley wasn't on 8 station, 8 years. He was in San Diego for 8 years, 3 stations, a cpl flips in there. Went to Phoenix for a little bit, new owners, flipped station, hello Howard Stern, goodbye Dave Smiley.

The new show will excite people in the market. I loved the Mess! The bad part is stations like i94 aren't setup to win. Now, the only thing the station has going for it is mornings. After that, back to crap programming.

Maybe PPM will change things.

Re: I94 (WWFT) flipped the on switch for "The Marco Show" yesterday. Joining him fro

When Smiley use to do a detail list of his career leading to indy he said 8 stations in 8 years as in being Releaved of duties from the stations either in terms of format flips or firing. im sure If Tom Berg is hanging around the boards some where you could ask him but i havent seen him on RI in a month or so

You keep saying this, but provide no actual proof.

Successful by what standard?

I'm sick of you wannabes who've never actually been any farther into a radio station than the lobby to pick a prize. You try to "friend" everyone in the industry on Facebook and somehow think that gives you insight into the business. You claim something was a success because you liked it, not because you can provide any measurable standard. As you've proved time and time again, you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. You're a fan -- that's it -- quit trying to pass yourself off as anything more.

Arbitron? Perhaps you've heard of them? I guess they do radio station ratings.
