Ideally, who/what would you like to hear replacing Steve LeVeille's broadcasts?

Ideally, who or what would you folks like to listen to as a replacement for Steve LeVeille's overnight broadcasts?...

Assuming that the timeslot isn't taken up by a syndicated show (which I fear is very likely), I can see two in-house candidates get promoted to the weeknight late-night slot: Morgan White, Jr. or Jordan Rich.

Believe it or not, I see as an outside the box longshot Cha-Chi LoPrete of sister station WZLX-100.7. LoPrete, back in the late 1980's/early 1990's hosted a talk/variety show on the local cable access channel in Norwood, Massachusetts, which was also shown on cable access channels across New England.

Under LoPrete, it would become more off-the-wall, but he's quite talented and perhaps he might be able to surprise us and stick to the traditional 'BZ all-night talk format (Larry Glick, Bob Raleigh, Norm nathan, Steve LeVeille, Jordan Rich)

which I fear is very likely
The election season may hold off a major change. You may see a period of several hosts --6 months?-- followed by new program (syndi) after Jan. 1.

Supposedly someone in the market--other than Steve-- was given strong consideration the first time. I don't know who that was (who)?

The guy who replaced long-timers Steve & Johnnie at WGN in Jan. I think is a conservative (from 'GN)? But hard right in the overnight wouldn't work locally. I can think of a couple of journalist types but the hour probably eliminates them.

I don't think hard politics is the right fit overnights. Needs to be more general interest. Also someone that can carry the show without having a lot of interviews since they are hard to get at that hour.

Find it odd that the retirement annoucement happened with such little notice. I would think there would be a bit more time between the announcement and the final show.

Leveille was saying just now WBZ plans are to have his reg. fill ins host for now, live and local till a perm. host is found, "a nationwide search" (and would stay live/local/)

Yours is easily the best idea.News until midnight, and Put the old fart in overnight, and really marginalize WBZ's already crappy talk product.
Observing what WBZ has elected to do in recent years, it will probably be the cheapest, er the ( cost effective) thing is replace Steve LeVeille with is recorded snake oil salesmen ( infomercials).
So Steve just sat down with his wife and they just looked at each other at age 57, and well, yuk, It's always been a dream of mine to retire early.
I'll the discussions were initiated by Peter Casey

Dan Rae, midnight to 4:30; all news, 4:30 am to midnight. It will never happen but that's what I'd like.

What do you mean? You think that Steve was "coerced" into leaving by management?

CBS stations in Pitt., Minn., and St Louis all have Overnight America I believe and Boston would continue to be an exception with live and local if they do indeed go on with what they said. (And
in terms of news last night Leveille and a WBZ news producer were on and they mentioned how
they broke the Whitey Bulger captured story, had the coverage of Bin Laden's death, etc.--and I would add that WBZ helped to spread word of the Danvers chem plant explosion--so they were pointing out that, while not going all news, sometimes the overnight show can cover local stories.)

WBZ and the folks at CBS may figure a local talk host with pleasant topics and occasional politics
is the way to go, rather than national talk. What else, a simulcast of CNN HN (Nancy Grace! blecch) or NECN (yeah the 3 am real estate show)? Jim Bohannon? Colon cleanser informercials? Dare I
suggest perhaps music (jazz, blues, esoteric?) Or all news a la WCBS? btw for Norm note the thread about WWZN changes
and you wonder if CC may put prog talk on either 1200 or 101.7 (wouldn't be both, as they'd
want to clear Rush and do their own local conserv talk) with the displaced Miller, Hartmann,
and Schultz.

Talk about a busy couple of weeks in talk radio locally: the passing of Lovell, Leveille retires,
Finneran, Ingraham, and Brien gone from RKO and McPhee returns, now the WWZN changes...

When Dan Rea took over 8-midnight, that turned out to be an unexpected, yet good move. I had assumed Jordan, Pat Desmaris, or someone else already with a slot on the station would get it. So I assume they will look around come up with someone good.

If there is a conspiracy behind the scenes to make overnights syndicated, brokered, etc. then they will just destroy a lot of loyalty to WBZ. What they've done on the weekends has already made it so I never even bother putting them on except real early on the weekends (before 9am). I used to have it on pretty much all day on the weekends. If they ruin the late nights then I'm going to be elsewhere which means I'll be elsewhere in the morning.

Agreed: WBZ made mistakes before

(Talking about the decision to drop Leveille a couple yrs back: ">>there will no doubt be plenty of comparisons to the ill-conceived evening programming change back in 1990 that's become part of WBZ lore. You probably know that story: to save money in bad economic times, WBZ sent local evening host David Brudnoy packing, replacing him with Tom Snyder's syndicated show...")

--Taking off Leveille to run Overnight America; ditto

They do say they'll stay local though you wonder if maybe they'd have a host only do mid-3,
mid-4, and fill rest of the time with syndie or informercials.

Why not?
They fired him a few years ago.

As far as Revolution Boston goes, anything that happens on that station, by default, or on purpose is Jeff Santos. Jeff Santos may have had a falling out with Dial Global, and that's why Stephanie Miller,
Thom Hartmann, and Ed Schultz aren't on, or negotiations have broken down, who knows? His website is always a day late, and a dollar short.
Jeff Santos moves in Unilateral, and Arbitrary ways
I personally love " Democracy now", and I wish he would start talking to Premier networks and put Mike Malloy, and Randi Rhodes back on WWZN

I don't know...I understand what you are saying, but it seems to me that Steve was waaaay too upbeat on his last days, if he was being let go forcefully.

May be nothing more that Steve & Mrs. Steve wanting to enjoy his retirement years early, esp. since they recently purchased their new, larger "vacation home" in Maine.
