Ideally, who/what would you like to hear replacing Steve LeVeille's broadcasts?

Assuming that WBZ-1030 keeps overnights live and local for the long-term, their best bet would be to name Morgan White, Jr. the full-time overnight host.

The reason is that to me, it seems that his shows are closest format-wise to Steve LeVeille (and before that, Bob Raleigh and Larry Glick).

Traditionally, overnight shows at WBZ are usually "light" and "fun", and seldom (except at times of major news events) all that "serious". White would be the best choice to continue that tradition during the week.

Todd Feinburg

I am surprised more people didn't mention Feinberg because he is hosting the BZ overnight show tonight. I guess we all assumed RKO would find something for him. He sounded very good for the 15 minutes I listened. Provided he didn't continue his RKO MO of blaming all the worlds problems on liberals, I would tune in more often than I do now. He can do light topics he can do politics and he is a good interviewer.

I is certainly much better than Morgan White or Bradley J. Dean Johnson is good but I think he can be a bore at times.

Noticed him too and I should have thought BZ could be a poss. place for him...he had said he hoped RKO could still use him somehow. There was talk of a young driver whose friend was killed in an accident or something, then "let's talk about the 60s". Voice and approach good

Caught the last 5 min's. Todd doesn't like hybrid cars --wish I owned a Prius-- as they are Gov' subsidized.
Just a shot or something more...I think Morgan is still in the lead?

WBZ Thursday night 12:00 mid - 5:00 am. Jen Brien, I think it's a one shot deal maybe they are finally doing audition shows?

As a conservative, I really enjoy Todd Feinberg's approach/style, but...

After four hours of political discussion w/ Dan Rea, the last thing I want to hear is an additional five hours of the same. Steve ran a variety show, at least in the early years, and I personally think the overnights is best suited for that style of programming.

As mentioned earlier, Morgan is about the closest match to Steve at this point. If they brought Todd Feinberg on full time, I suppose I may listen one night out of five, simply because I do not want to hear more political garbage. ::)

But wait a minute... we're assuming that Morgan wants the gig full-time.

I sort of get the impression that he only wants to do it part-time... I remember
he let Bradley have some of the fill-in time during Steve's final year.

Everyone --except LeVellie-- wants a full-time gig at a quality station (even 12-5am). Of course Morgan wants the job.

I don't know if there were tryouts or even interviews when Bob Raleigh left. They took tapes/resumes but just gave it to Steve apparently. So maybe this is a bit unusual --for BZ--or it could just be favors to agents?

I enjoyed Jen Brien on Friday's show. She was quirky, bright, sweet, and very easy to listen to. I got the feeling that she was running out of steam in the last hour or so, but otherwise I thought she did real good.

Would I want her as a full time replacement? Hmmm....not sure yet. But I am leaning in her direction. ;)

As someone who listened to Jen Brien during her RKO stint when there was nothing else interesting on, I found her very minor league. Just saying.

Sara Ting ( Larry Glick used to sing Talk to Ting at Two while promoting her show during his) did weekend overnights for a short time at BZ. I worked with her at another broadcast outlet. She is very intelligent and nice but was the wrong person to host an overnight general interest talk show.

I don't remember Janet doing overnights. I thought she went from doing the mid day music show to RKO but I could be wrong.

I am not sure that people like Morgan White Bradley Jay and Jen Brien have agents. One reason BZ may be using rotating hosts is it is cheaper to pay union scale with no benefits to people rather than a full time salary It may sound absurd but if you told me 10 years ago that BZ would be running infomercials on Saturday nights I would have thought that was absurd as well.

Thought Janet Jeghelian may have been on "WHDH News Talk 850" PM Drive at one point..

Jen has her followers. So does Michele. Some...

>>cheaper to pay union scale with no benefits to people rather than a full time salary

That may be what Michele's doing at RKO now...
As for thinking something years ago that would have been considered absurd at the time, what if
one of us made the following predictions, in late 2011, for 2012:

--WODS will switch to CHR
--WFNX will be sold to Clear Channel, who will put Bon Jovi on it
--WMVY will be sold to WBUR
--Rush back to RKO, CC kills conserv talker ("OK, that I could see happening...")
--Dec 1, 2012, and no Boston station (OK there's WSRS but tech that's Worc.) is
doing all Christmas.

--and so on... anything can happen

don't remember Janet
She did, no question. If I'm remembering the order of moves correctly:
Larry goes to HDH
Bob Raleigh replaces LG
Janet is hired to do 10-2 (in BR's place)
------------------------------
Bob is taken off overnights and sent to the Pru(traffic)
Janet is moved to 12-5 am
Dick Pace or Bruce Stevens is doing mid-day (following Maynard).

Jeghelian was hired from WJMQ Norfolk where she did school lunches and everything else. She was hired there because it was owned by the former state Sen. Jack Quinlan, a Repub. and Janet was active in Repub. politics. She did middays at BZ for a while and moved to o-nights when Glick was pushed back, then went to RKO

I think Glick had to go off air for awhile (non-compete?) then emerged on 850 in the daytime.
Bad move so they put him on at night. I remember Morgan White Jr appearing on Glick's
850 overnight show (he'd just started doing Coolidge Corner Clubhouse appearances)....anyway I
thought Janet was part of an afternoon news show on 'HDH (she also had co-hosted with Ted
O'Brien on RKO, mornings)

Howie got kicked off RKO and went to HDH afternoons..then Rush & Howie migrated to RKO when HDH
became the new home of EEI.

(Wiki. re: Glick: "Prior to ending its run on WHDH in 1992, Larry's show went out first over WMEX in 1965. By 1967, he had been hired by WBZ, where he would spend the next 20 years")

>>She did middays at BZ for a while and moved to o-nights when Glick was pushed back, then went to RKO

Oh OK..still think she may have been at 'HDH for awhile in afternoons or am I thinking of
Jeanine Graf or something? I vaguely remember a late afternoon news show on HDH.
As for politics I believe she lost to Romney in the '94 GOP Senate primary

I think Janet hosted afternoons at WHDH for a bit after they moved Claprood & Whitley to RKO (well before the big format migration). WHDH was being positioned by Mugar's people as "the information station" with non-issue talk. Eventually they brought in Howie after he was gassed by the Geniuses at WRKO when they pulled the plug on him and Victoria Jones and replaced them with Leykis, which is why Howie bashes Leykis from time to time (never mentioning the personal angle, of course.)

Thanks, I was pretty sure my memory was correct re: the afternoon show. Remember the other
stuff too.
There was a crossover hour where Howie and Victoria were on together. Vict. once talked to a guy convinced he was Jesus Christ.

http://www.linkedin.com/pub/victoria-jones/12/B2B/B2
>>Victoria is a contributor to CNN, Fox News Channel, MSNBC and the BBC...Victoria quickly worked her way to the highest ranks of the talk radio industry by landing key on-air host positions at some of the country’s most prestigious stations, including WWRC Washington DC, WRKO Boston...

Bob Raleigh replaces LG
Janet is hired to do 10-2 (in BR's place)
------------------------------
Bob is taken off overnights and sent to the Pru(traffic)
Janet is moved to 12-5 am

Are you certain about that? I can't remember anyone after Bob Raleigh except Steve...maybe I slept through it... ???
