If CBS-FM Would Flip to a Simulcast of Newsradio 880...

Jacksonville, Orlando, Akron, Central NJ, Tallahassee, Indianapolis, New Orleans, Pittsburgh, SLc, Seattle, Phoenix. DC, Charleston, SC, and quite a few others have shown that moving to Fm or simulcasting an ageing trandition news talk or news AM there revitalizes the listenership in the sales demos.

Who did it in Orlando and Central NJ? I'm drawing a blank.

WDBO simulcasts on WHTQ 96.5's HD2 channel.
NJ 101.5/WKXW simulcasts on 97.3 FM in Southern New Jersey.

I'm not sure what simulcasting an FM station on another FM station would have to do with this discussion or how it would serve as a pertinent example of the benefits of simulcasting AM on FM.

And simulcasting a station on HD doesn't seem to me like it would "stimulate" any demo, since so few people have HD receivers and even fewer will be listening to a specific station/simulcast at any given time.

Orlando, NJ, Akron, Pittsburgh, Orlando and a couple of others are true traditional talk startups.
WTKS/Orlando is more of a hot talker. Not the 'traditional' talk station like WCBS, KCBS, etc.

Not sure about the others.

Neither WCBS (AM) nor KCBS (AM) and the FM simulcast are talk stations. They are 100% news.

WTKS is at the "hotter" end, but is is pretty much a traditional talker... it is not the Stern-inspired "Free FM" type of thing CBS tried and failed at.
