If wlrs did not make money why did radio one keep it and not flip it?

Was it because it worked well for sales purposes when paired with other stations in there cluster?Just curious???I mean you know the old saying when your in a hole quit digging it just seems radio one kept digging and digging and digging and now they just passed the mess onto mainline lord knows what will happen next. Not only did they fire all the people with any talent but they kept the worst talent for louisville radio makes no sense.Okay skinny j not a bad jock but he is bad for mornings no flow to it.Joe sounds like he has always been smoking his whole life.

I love the alternative format if done right like the sound in cincinnati 94.9 or 91x in sandiego.

Well good luck to main line and all there stations what ever becomes of them.

Happy halloween to all you ghosts and goblins out there!!!

Because flipping it would have cost money and Radio One is cheap. And since they already had the Louisville cluster sale planned, you don't put a new roof on a house you are about to sell.

Question for kyscott?Do you think mainline will do somemthing with 105.1 flip it change it or stay as is?Seems nuts to keep it as is!!!

Alternative is a very very viable format in Louisville. If Mainline dumps it, which they may just do...look for someone to pick it up

Oh contrair wlrs is not an alternative station it is a active rock station with a touch of alt thrown in.They may report as one but truly they are a station with an identity crises. They try to be both active and alt but do not do either well. They were alt when they went on the air in march of 2000 but after a couple of years radio one ruined that and made them fox lite. Most radio people i talk to say alt is a very hard sell in this town.I give you examples she 93.1 was a alternative of sorts they did play ani defranco they flipped to what is now kiss 98.9 and Q2 wqnf 105.9 awesome station they are christian rock now and lrs i did say they were alt at one time so if history is any judge alt is not viable in this town. But then again wfpk(the only alt station in town yeah i know adult alt but still alt) did have there highest fund drive yet. POOR LRS

Considering the transmitter is in Bullitt county, I'd flip it to a redneck country type of format. Hank Jr, Wet Willie, Allman Brothers, Skynard, that kind of stuff and pull a few numbers away from WAMZ. I don't use that term in a derogatory manor since I love that kind of music, and the few folks I have talked to in the south end would listen to it AND, nobody else is doing it.
I would take the active rock format and put it back on 102. That transmitter covers the U of L campus better, which is where your target demo is.
I'd take the Max format and put it on 101, that would get all the office workers out in the east end which is where a majority of their listeners are....and the money.
I'd leave GZB the way it is now. It's the money maker for the cluster and since they have run the power up at the transmitter site, they are covering the west end better.
Don't know what I'd do with DJX. It's lagging but I don't know if that's programming or the format. If I did anything with it, I'd either go head to head with VEZ or I might consider moving the Max format to the 99.7 frequency and moving the CHR format to the 101 frequency. OR try an FM news/talk format on 101 (with REAL Louisville news) and take on WHAS. I think WHAS is vunerable because Clear Channel has made so many deep cuts in their newsroom. I don't even listen to them anymore. If I want local news, I go to WFPL.

I really cant see them touching WDJX at all! It makes way too much money and pulls way to many ratings.

I sometimes wonder if Clear Channel and Mainline would be better off trading WTFX and WLRS. When I can hear the same song on WLRS, WDJX, and WXMA all within an hour, I wonder who's really competing with who. The Alternative format would fit more freely between Kiss (Rhythmic leaning CHR/Pop), Louie (Hot AC leaning Adult Hits), and QMF (Classic Rock).

But 3 fm country stations would that work in the ville???And all that flipping of frequencies won't you just confuse the listener to no end?Djx has been at 99.7 since 1985 with that kind of history i would not dare move it just look what has happend when radio one ruined lrs moving it from its 1974 home at 102.3 to its 2000 home at 105.1? Hows that workin for ya radio one???Or mainline should i say

Uggh! No more changes! Pick a location/format/frequency and stick with it! I don't agree with your moving it around. WHTS All Hit 98-9 in the Quad Cities, IA area changed format (without my permission of course) and now all that's left there is B-100 at 99.7. Louisville, KY is the only other market that has CHR formats one right after the other at 98.9 and 99.7 and I want it to remain that way. What sucks is that both 99.7 and 105.1 still aren't streaming. I mean, get with the program! I cannot wait to take my horse ranching vacation in KY! Obviously WLRS is still doing something otherwise it would have flipped when they took off the 104.3 simulcast wouldn't it have? Someone send me an aircheck of that station since it may not sream for a long time!

Not anymore. Not like it used to. Look at the ratings. WGZB WVEZ, WMJM and WSFR have passed WDJX in the ratings. In the summer book, it was sixth. Peter B and Kelly have played out. Time for something fresh. As hot as WGZB is, I would be very tempted to move it over to the class B signal of 99.7.

Dude, you aren't even in Louisville so what does it matter to you? Give up the streaming thing. You are beating a dead horse and it's getting old.

I am not beating a dead horse! They should fricken stream! I don't care if I have to go to Louisville myself! I will go right down to the studios myself and make them stream!

I'm not in Louisville, no. But I'm in one of the crappiest radio markets ever. And I like the Louisville stations. So I care, BIG TIME. Do not call me "Dude" unless you're a friend of mine which I don't recognize you as yet. I never give up either. Why should I care about my crappy radio market in Milwaukee? Please tell me. It is so crappy beyond belief and this market is so much better. I cannot just get up and drive down there either, although I wish I could - this morning I just got the damn courts to approve a test for my license for corn's sake.

I just really hate everyone talking about these stations and I never hearing them but want to. :( Why aren't they streaming???? Jeez!

I am sorry but didn't explain this enough. Maybe this will make you understand. Almost every night before bed I look for something to listen to online. I scour the net for new radio stations I'm interested in listening to. It is one of the things that is entertaining and I don't care to watch TV much. So yeah I care, about EACH and EVERY one of these entertaining things because that's what makes my world goes round. For example, WLRS, WXMA, and WDJX if streaming, would make my world go round. Nuff' said.
