I don't predict any changes, unless EMF buys up another station to put Air1 on. Not my idea of interesting radio, but they are staying on from donations. From a listeners (land of make believe) perspective, I would look to make variety in stations with repeated formats. One classic rock, one country, one R&B, one CHR/Hot AC, Sports Talk (I personally despise the sports talk format, love sports but hate sports talk), and so on. I wouldn't care how much of what my personal taste actually replaced these repeats, just that it added more variety. To me, the lower rated station would be who goes. For example, WKLB holds stronger ratings than The Bull, so The Bull would go. The question is what would that be? In all honesty, we could make an argument that there is room already for it on HD stations. Remember this takes nothing of billing and ratings into account. In the real world, two country stations get more in sales than one alternative station. It's also why I personally choose to use FM as a "next resort" when I feel what I'm streaming from my phone or satellite is getting stale. For example, I was driving my daughter home from practice yesterday when I switched to FM and was bouncing between WGIR-FM and WERS.
So, I make my observations but am not looking to revamp the dial. I will critique areas where I'm passionate, but that's about it. We can speak from fairytale land, but unless there is a hole that can be filled, it will be status quo.
