Our dogs goto the same doggie daycare. It's Stoli. Trust me. Still wonrering? Call or email him directly and see what he's got to say.

Please disregard my last post.....DO NOT contact BARNES and ask him directly. You might get sued! (I couldn't live with myself knowing I was the caused of yet another rediculous lawsuit)

You people seriously have so little time on your hands that the best thing you can come up with on a Saturday afternoon. Here's the deal. Barnes has 2 children. One is fairly new, the other is pre-K age. For those of you that have children, this is a very difficult time, to have a second child when one is already around the pre-K age primarily due to attention issues i.e., the older one wants the bulk of the attention and hates competing with the other kid, let alone the dog. And, because Barnes is working and doing remotes and all the other stuff he does during the day, his wife is home primarily handling the 2 children and (even with one child) it is particularly difficult to also provide a large amount of attention to a pet. So, the dog (Stoli) began to destroy things around the house, use the bathroom on the carpet, chew things up, etc. Obviously indicators that the dog is not happy. There are two options here, you drop time spent with the kids to play with the dog, or, you get another dog so they can play together, which is obviously not an option, because if you're having a hard time with one, how can you handle two? So, the Barnes family decides to send the dog to a no-kill, rescue shelter, that is one Firfer's TV show all the time, to see if someone might be interested in adopting it. Which, but the way, is the absolute most humane thing they could do if the dog was so unhappy that it lost it's training and became destructive. What would you geniuses suggest? Maybe he should get rid of one of his kids so he's have more time with the dog. Or just continue to let the dog be so unhappy that it can't control itself?

Seriously, this is an absolutely pathetic attempt by people that don't like Barnes to try and spin things to rally against him. It's ridiculous, very akin to when people were talking about other people in the lunch room in junior high.

Preach on, slider7!....but strange that the no-kill shelter threw him under the bus in the ad copy. Guess they didnt see it as the humane move.

I've got 2 young kids and the cat shits on the carpet regularly. Would rather he didnt, but I'll spare his life all the same. Et tu, Stacy?

So, if your young child starts wetting his pants or indicating they are unhappy, do they get put up for adoption too? Animals are not decorations. While I applaud the fact that "barnes" is trying to place the dog in a better home, the situation is still upsetting. (I would say the same thing if this were anyone's pet, as I have no other bone to pick with Barnes, as many on here do)

Why did Barnes give up the dog anyway? With the way Dave FM is going .... he would surely have plenty of time to be at home with the wife, kids, and dog .... within another book or two.

Who is "Slider?" Is that you Barnes? You don't give up a family dog of 9 yrs, EVEN with a newborn, unless you felt the dog was endangering the welfare of the child. But, because it sh*t on the carpet? Nice........ :-\


I hope someone stepped up and adopted the dog at least.

That's a bunch of pure crap.

There are more then 2 options.

He was already in doggy daycare, but maybe that paticular one wasn't the best one for Stoli, try to find another one.

You can hire a 'critter sitter' to give your families 'best friend' one on one doggy daycare every day.

You can also hire a doggy 'trainer' that would fix the problem of the destructive behaviour.

You can even 'crate train' an old dog, such as Stoli.

Or hell, you can give the dog to a friend, family member, or go on your show and FIND someone to take your dog of 9 years.

But to drop that poor animal off at even a 'no-kill' shelter sounds to me like the easy, cheap way out.

You people are just silly. Never anything to say but something to cut the throat of someone in the radio business. As far as the copy goes that Aiding and Apetting used for Stoli. What do you think they were going to say if they were trying to get a dog adopted? I know, instead of saing this was an owner surrender and they didn't have time, etc., etc., the definitely should have said:

Beagle/Pointer Mix
9 Years Old
This dog was an owner surrender because it is completely destructive and hasn't been able to adjust to children in the house. Please come adopt him so he can tear your place up too.

And Evnlee, first of all, so you know if Barnes tried any of those other things? Do you know if he used a trainer and it didn't work, or tried different day care? So, for you, the better answer, rather than to try and find a family through a very solid rescue group, is to just pay a whole bunch of people to spend time with the dog? What's the difference? Have people in your house all day, or have it in a daycare all the time? That's the better answer. So, you still have the dog, you just never spend any time with it and you pay other people to do it. Yeah, I can see where you are coming from. That's much more noble. And crating the dog? That's particularly humane. I'm sure Stoli would much rather be crated that to live in a rescue home and hopefully get adopted by a family that could commit more energy to it.

And finally, is that you Pam Anderson? Comparing a destructive animal to a child that wet's themselves is far, far from an accurate analogy and you know it.

I think Jimmy Baron should adopt Stoli. He loves dogs.

Gimme a break plenty of people have two kids with a stay at home wife. I do. You act like Barnes is a workaholic. He is done at 9:00 even if he stayed at Dave until 10:30 gives him plenty of time to be home. Remotes? What one every Friday night for 2 hours and if he is lucky another throughout the week. How many parents after working their long hours come home and shuffle kids to baseball, soccer or football practice or any other activity. Are those less time-consuming than his precious remotes?

Stoli is probably like jimmy one of them had to go and it either way it was a win.

The perfect end to this story would be if Jimmy - whose second dog in 5 months recently died, and a noted dog lover - adopted Stoli.

Sheesh, for people that hate Barnes and DaveFM and want them to go and want O&A in their place, and everything else, you guys sure seem to have you finger on the pulse of his personal life, what happens on his show and even his work schedule. Interesting. And ever better, have the time and energy to crucify him over something that the only bit of info you have is from Jim at 99xwatch. Just one little piece of info, nothing about the why's or anything surrounding the whole thing, just one little blog post from the pissed off old 99X guy. But I guess that's what happens when chum lands in the shark tank.
