I'll say it again Beautiful Music must make a return to the FM dial

Good grief! I'm not sure which is going to die first -- this thread or the potential audience for this format.

>Back in 1988, I worked at 107.9 in Macon and another part-timer and I found several stacks of the old 1970's era WCRY BM reels tucked away in a closet. I think we counted 30 reels in excellent condition. With remodeling in full swing, the engineer said they were headed to the dump and warned us not to mess with them. We complied and he hauled them off with hand trucks before anyone could get their hands on them.>

I'd bet some of them didn't go to the dump. I'd also bet I'd have followed the hand truck to the dumpster or the pickup and continued pursuit. :)

I wonder if Cecil Staton's outfit might consider Bonneville or other BM format? That is, if anyone in the target market can wade through the static and listen to a Dublin, Hawkinsville, Unadilla, or Shangri-La station. It's an idea.

My collection definitely doesn't include any BM reels. Who knew the demand one day would be so great for old BM reels? I did find the sign-off music from the old FM 99, WMAZ-FM on a Radio Arts reel at 'PEZ. However, I was busy chasing down the 12" dance discs that were dumpster bound. That special clear 12" of Herb Alpert's "Rise" was/is definitely a keeper.

For those historians of FM 99, WMAZ-FM, GM Fred Newton took the station 24 hours on Labor Day Weekend 1982. Previously, they signed-off at 1 am. Fred jumped to 'PEZ on February 1, 1989. 99 would go oldies just nine years later on Friday, August 30, 1991. Come on folks, let's get this man in the Georgia Radio Hall of Fame. His accomplishments in Macon are truly noteworthy.

Gotta go now, my therapist is calling....

My god. It's been well over a week and this thread is still alive!

Someone put it to sleep!

I know! Start playing beautiful music! That'll do the trick!

Heck, no! We won't go! Heck, no! We won't go! Heck, no! We won't go! Heck, no! We won't go!

Which one will be a christmas channel??? 102.5 or 96.5

A rumor overheard about oldies: the 103.7 move-in. I doubt it, but I heard it twice.
