In Latin America, the Future of Digital Radio Is a Murky One

Some colorful editing was pointed out to a few of us today from March 3rd to March 9th at Radioworld.

From the March 3rd edition of Radioworld:

“If digital radio has not found a market in the United States, with a population of 300 million, then what chance do we have in Argentina with a population of only 40 million?” wondered Juan Fernández, director of Radio Mi País, an AM station on 1170 kHz.

article here:

if that doesn't work

http://www.radioworld.com/article/115210

In the March 9th online version this quote was changed to:

"If digital radio has not found a market in Canada with a population of 200
million..."

Did advertisers and/or big money (read HD) supporters complain at Radioworld about the original quote? Remember that there are a few big broadcasters who still cling to the delusion that digital radio will somehow still actually work and become a viable platform for radio despite all the evidence all over the world to the contrary

I will post a link if available later for the March 9th edition.

Especially since they only have 30 million people.

Yeah, I've noticed all the unwashed Canadians hanging around outside Home Depot on Saturday mornings, looking for off-the-books work. I'll tell you though: those Canucks can sure build a great low-cost smokehouse like nobody else. They know their bacon! :D

Saturday nights they're always cruising the Canadian neighborhoods in their custom Volvo and Saab pickups, with 6000-watt subwoofer audio systems pounding out Anne Murray and Paul Anka. Sheesh.....why can't they assimilate??

I'm just so sick of it: "Please press one for Canadian, eh, hosers?"

Hey, as long as those Canadians keep bring beer and Tim Horton's with them, they're OK with me.
