Tuning the dial in OC NJ today with my Grundig which has a tuner that reads every setting eg. 97.7-97.8-97.9-98.0-98.1 etc. I picked up a station on 98.0, it would not come in on 98.1 or 97.9, it was playing rock music and calling itself Ocean 98. Really some far out rock cuts, jocks, commercials the whole 9 yards. I thought it was from OC-NJ, now comes the odd part, a female was sitting next to me on the bench at the Music Pier, and asked me what I had on the radio. I told her about what I was listening to and she was full of info. She told me the station was from OC, Maryland, Sellebyville, DE and was on 98.1 and there were 5 other stations on the 6 bay with them. She said she worked at one of the other stations that also used the tower, but when I asked her why they were coming in only on 98.0 she was baffled....no other stations were acting this way, so who knows what was going on.....oh and I did not get lucky darn it....:(

Yeah, that's typical receiver behavior when there's a strong adjacent channel.

Can your Grundig do smaller steps? If not, make sure your next DXing radio can do .01 MHz steps. Bet WOCM would have come in even better on 98.05.

Another example: Right now, I'm in DC and can't get WWMX well on 106.5 because of adjacent channel WJFK on 106.7. But if I tune down to 106.47, WWMX comes in pretty decently.

Thanks for all the great info, yes my Grundig can get receive 98.05 etc., also on AM it can dial 1340-1341-1342 etc., going off subject on WMID yesterday they played the Ballad of Davy Crockett, I think it was the Fess Parker version, I guess that is what makes them so unique for an oldies outlet....wow...
