In the news: Monks shut off local TV in Bennington county Vermont

(From the "Bennington Banner")

The Carthusian monks have pulled the plug on some residents of Bennington County.

The monks decided not to renew a lease for land on Mount Equinox, where WCAX-Channel 69 and Vermont Public Television-Channel 36 had a broadcast transmitter, according to two Vermont TV stations.

Isn't WEQX's transmitter at the same spot? Is their future in danger?

WEQX and WJAN are both on the mountain.

Along with a half dozen paging companies.

Followup: VT residents continue to miss public TV

(From the "Bennington Banner")

Patricia and Edward Toth want to watch "Antiques Roadshow" and "Mrs. Marple" again.
The couple, who live on Prouty Hill Road(in Sunderland), don't have cable or satellite television and have not received Vermont Public Television since early June.

Like other viewers in Bennington County, the Toths lost VPT when the Carthusian monastery decided not to renew its lease agreement for a transformer on Mount Equinox.
